  1. They both have pros and cons. Mostly pros for both, though. Zim is younger, but has battled more injuries the past few years. There isn't anything about him that makes me pine for him over what we currently have in Wright.

  3. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/10853550-419/ryan-braun-says-the-substance-never-entered-my-body.html The Sun Times quoting Ryan Braun wrote: I would bet my life the substance never entered my body at any point. There's still a lot of murk to this story...but like I said, Braun's statement above goes a long way towards me being able to swallow the appeal decision.
  4. This is quite a "hairy" bunch. Not sure I approve.
  5. Yeah...any comparison to O.J. is a big leap. I do question the use of the word "innocent" as it applies to Braun, though.
  6. Gwreck wrote: I think he already answered it when he claimed innocence immediately upon hearing the results. I think the definition of "innocence" is blury at best in this situation. I think many people, including Braun are conflating it with "not guilty". I want him to say the words "I have never used performance enhanding drugs". To my knowledge, he hasn't done this yet.
  7. I'll be very interested to see how Bruan will respond to the inevitable question: "Ryan, can you tell your fans, especially the children who may be listening or watching, that regardless of the results of your test or appeal, you have never used any banned performance enhancing drugs?"
  8. That is bullshit. He's an even bigger cheater in my mind now.
  9. What a load of crap. Someone familiar with the decision said the appeal went Braun's way not so much on contesting the result of the test but the testing process itself, some kind of technicality. I want answers. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/140213003.html
  10. I agree that Torres should and will get the opportunity to fail there...and if he does, Tejada and Murphy are available as options. I think that Terry proved last year that he is willing to change it up and go with the hot hand. I don't have any reason to believe that he will stick with Torres if he sees someone who will better fill the role. As far as Tejada not being able to handle playing SS everyday AND being the teams leadoff hitter...I think Terry would say it best by pointing out that all of the players that he manages are Major Leaguers.
  11. Don't they design all spring training caps to be hideous, horrible, awful abomination? I'm not sure that this is a 2012 phenomenon, folks.
  12. What is this? A team of Brian Wilsons?
  13. Hey...no drop-shadow on the unis, though.
  14. I enjoyed Romeo + Juliet, but I haven't seen it in about a decade. Moulin Rouge!...not so much. I've never seen Strictly Ballroom or Austrailia.
  15. Mike Nickeas as a 4 is going to take some getting used to.
  16. The party in the Loser's Lounge has been over for weeks. Any losers from here on out will need to find their own entertainment...and swag.
  17. Edgy DC wrote: Well, they made a big blockbuster budgeted movie that could've been good and wasn't. Now they've got to deal with it. You'll get through it. But it'll take more imagination on your part than the six or seven credited screenwriters brought to it. This sums it up perfectly. Tough to pull off the sci-fi/western double fantasy...but this one didn't even come close in my mind.
  18. Upon seeing that pic, I immediately thought Romeo + Juliet. I've enjoyed the book each time I've read it and will see this movie.
  19. Nice to see (read) you, SS!
  20. I read (via Metsblog IIRC) that the Mets are not interested and didn't even send a scout.
  21. Apparently, he can breathe better now and is in noticeably better shape. But will it make him pitch any better?
  22. My northern-Midwest accent is plainly evident on my "a"s and "o"s, but I'm fairly confident I could pronounce "chuffed" with the best of 'em. However, I'm pretty sure my rendition of "acting the maggot" would make you smile.
  23. TransMonk wrote: In other news...it doesn't look to me like MLB.TV will be available on a month-to-month subscription this season. Not a big deal...actually, it looks to be cheaper in the long run, but month-to-month always provided me the ability to cancel in August if the Mets were way behind in the standings (although, I think I only wen't through with it one season (2009) when times were tight). They have changed the subscription to also offer a monthly subscription now. I still opted for the year package as I get the spring games and free access to the Android app. I'm ready for some baseball.
  24. Frayed Knot wrote: Nice career dude. Definitely. Wakefield was always a favorite of my old man (who roots for the Sox of the other color), so I always kept an eye on how he was doing.
  25. RIP, Kid.
