  1. Speak for yourself on the overbidding. Like I said in the other thread, I won't raise a stink either way...but my preference is to proceed with the way we were originally drafting and have Fman's team sit out.
  2. Personally, if someone wants to pick up the abondoned team, I would rather they do it once the rest of us have our rosters in order. I understand that this would put this potential GM at a severe disadvantage, but I have a feeling that having the second half of a draft/auction with one GM having nearly all of their cash means that it is going to be really hard for the other 11 GMs to find value for the small amount of cash that we have left. I guess I would rather have it be extremely hard for one person than somewhat hard for 11 people. Just my opinion. I'm up for anything.

  4. Overall, I think the 4th place/under .500 predicitions will be closer to the mark than 97 wins, but obviously, anything's possible. This team has more potential than those of the past few years, so if nothing else they should be exciting and fun. I do believe the Mets will finish (with a cluster of other teams) within 10 games of the 2nd wildcard, providing what some will call meaningful games in September.
  5. 78-84 Fourth in the NL East No playoffs
  6. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120323&content_id=27555798&vkey=perspectives&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb Jeremy Guthrie has been named as the Rockies' Opening Day starter.
  7. Muddy Chicken wrote: Hello! Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. I'm a friend of metsmarathon and am pretty pumped for this league. The draft last night, although slow, was quite fun. I'm not a Met's fan, but I do hate the Yankees. That's just as good, right? Welcome! Are you a Sox fan? I think the price you paid for David Ortiz was one of the best values of the night.
  8. I'm glad. I agree that Muddy shouldn't be saddled with the phantom Nelson Cruz.
  9. Not for nothing, but I was kinda of relying on the tiredness/drunkeness/boredom of a long draft as a stategy to try and make some late, cheap moves under the radar. I think this break in the action is going to allow for a little more studying and deal searching by everyone now that all of the GMs have an idea of how the auction and league works. Good for the league...but prolly worse for me in the long run, considering my plan going in. But I'm feeling OK about what I got last night.
  10. MVP votes? 30+ HRs? A guy (or many guys) can hope...but I'm not seeing it yet.
  11. .271, 19 HR, 80 RBI, 100K
  12. Very cool. I was just thinking of this today.
  13. Ceetar wrote: .305/.392/.528 31 HR, 120 RBI, 31 SB, 150K, 1 triple. I'll take the under on all of these but the triples. Ultimately, I think the Pons will try to re-sign him for the face-saving reasons mentioned above. I wouldn't blame David for hearing what other teams have to offer.
  14. I like what Grimm is sayin'.
  15. *avi...I'm losing it today. Seriously.
  16. What does the amount matter? If they're losing money, they're losing money whether it's $1 million, $70 million or $300 million per year. The point remains that if they're not making money over the next 3 years (which it doesn't seem to me that they will), then all this settlement does is postpone the inevitable to an even further date of when money that they are not going to have will be due. I'm sure the Wilpons are pleased. It gives them a little more time to pray for that miracle. And, hey, anything's possible. But, from where I'm sitting, I think this settlement may have pushed the timeline for being genuinely competitive that much further out.
  17. If Wright's healthy, I think he gets in. I went with Dickey as well. I think Niese, Davis and Santana have shots as well, but didn't vote them on the poll.
  18. Whoa. Maybe I should.
  19. Must. Stay. Healthy. .280, 22 HR, 93 RBI
  20. I predict a winning record and an ERA under 4. Niese finally gets it.
  21. Overall on this topic, I'm with Greg.
  22. The Phillies are overrated. I think the NL East is pretty weak in general this season. I will probably pick the Phillies to win the division, but I have a hard time thinking they'll win 90 games.
  23. Prove it, Washington. I've been hearing for years that this team is finally going to have a winning record...I'll believe it when I see it.
  24. Yeah, I don't see how this team is any better than the Mets.
  25. Nope, they ALL suck. They will be the baseball equivalent of the 2011 Philadelphia Eagles: lots of fanfare and big names without the cohesion and consistency to back it up.
