I'm really OK with not having Reyes under contract for 6 years. Thanks, Sandy. I think a video reel for a 28 year old player who is now a member of a division rival is a bit much. I'd politely clap during his first at-bat, but that's all the love I'd give him. Like I've said before, I'm grateful for what he did while he was here, but I don't miss him. Unlike Piazza, or even Beltran, he's still got nearly half of his career ahead of him where he'll be making memories for another team's fans (good or bad remains to be seen).

It will be interesting to see if they do the same for Beltran when the Cardinals visit on June 1st...

Gee's been very impressive. Keep it up, Shaggy.

I wasn't hypothesizing that MLB should do less...just something different now that the novelty and meaning of what they are doing seems to have worn off.

I can honestly say that my least favorite thing about the unis right now is the 50th anniversary patch. Not that it's a bad patch...I just like the traditional logo on the left sleeve. I am not a fan of the back of the cap logo shenanigans, tho. While I'm in the thread...I've moved past seeing everyone wearing 42 as meaningful on Jackie Robinson day. I would much rather see the one player on each team who best exemplifies the characteristics of Jackie Robinson get the honor of wearing 42 based on a vote of their teammates/coaches. I'm not sure who proposed that idea, because it is not an original idea of mine, but I think it is much better than seeing it on everyone.

Where they are at Memorial Day will be a good indicator to me.

Things I disliked: Thole's baserunning. Murphy's wickets. The mention of Rollin's 2007 MVP Award. Things I liked: The blue. Dickey. The time and pace of the game. Bay's Blast. Winning.

I'm more excited about these being back than the home unis!

My dad's a White Sox fan, so I guess I came pretty close to being one, too. I like Robin, I like Super Joe, I like their stadium, I like the fact that they're not the Cubs...but I love the Mets.

Per his (outdated) website, RF Hunter Pence gives fairly boring info about himself: "My interests off the field of baseball consist of a variety of activities. I enjoy spending time with my family as much as possible. Being around those who love and support me no matter what happens is always a blessing in my opinion. I enjoy watching movies, listening to music of all varieties, eating at new restaurants, playing video games with my friends, and playing ping-pong. I am extremely competitive and thrive on finding activities that are interactive and challenging. His girlfriend is a Slott...Lindsay Slott.

I'd root for the White Sox if they weren't not the Mets.

It will be hard for them to sustain these type of wins over the next 6 months. Eventually, they will need to start stringing hits together.

I'll be overjoyed if this team is good enough to clinch the second wildcard spot this season.

I was under the impression the roads would always be the same.

TransMonk replied to Frayed Knot's topic in Archived Game Threads
Well, to be honest, the team we've seen the last two games is what I expected from the 2012 Mets. I was hoping the first four games were proving me wrong. Now, I'm just hoping the bit of magic from the first four games doesn't disappear completely and turn into the disaster that was the 2011 April.
