  1. "Who's Your Tiger?" is hysterical.
  2. Danny Knobler steals Ed Price's thunder and reports Ben Sheets to the A's for 1 year, $8 mils. http://danny-knobler.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/8590096/19783010 Disappointing. So this Bedard guy...
  3. Winn's an outfielder sure, but would you really want that dude playing centerfield in Citi? As I recall, he's been in RF in SF for a good while now and ain't getting younger.
  4. Sounds like the Mets wanted someone strictly centerfieldery, in case Pagan gets hurt or flames out and Fartinez isn't ready to take over. They're pretty damn thin at CF and this helps with the depth there. That said, not sure if there's a better option on the FA market that wouldn't have cost a usable arm for similar $$. If there was a poll, I'd be choosing between "indifferent" and "mildly disappointed".
  5. Can't see why I'd want that dude out there instead of Pagan.

  7. great movie.
  8. Edgy DC wrote: I think it's pretty clear, and has been all along, that nobody defied anybody, nobody betrayed anybody, but somebody misunderstood somebody. And I think the odds-on favorite from the first moment has been Beltran misunderstanding Minaya. But again, I think we're exactly where we would be had he not. Not really clear to me. Beltran's statement completely contradicted Ricco's, and Omar backs Ricco up by saying he didn't OK the surgery. Omar's throwing around "follow protocol" as if that clears anything up, or moves the heat back to Carlos (or off him), but he still seems to be implying that Beltran defied the team's wishes. Agreed we'd probably be here just the same, but that's a huge-ass miscommunication. Minaya seems to admit as much, but confuses shit more when he says he didn't give an OK, but said he explained to Carlos that he's not the guy who gives the OK anyway. Huh?
  9. "Carlos did speak to me before surgery and we had a good conversation," Minaya told Newsday in a telephone interview. "It was one of those things as far as he was telling me what the second opinion was and all that. I basically told him, 'Look, as long as the protocol is followed.' I didn't give an OK because ... we had a good conversation about it that seemed like he was excited about it. I did talk to Carlos about that (Friday) and I did have a conversation with him before (the surgery) and with the simple thing that he let me know what the prognosis was as far as that he was going to have surgery. Bottom line, as long as that protocol was followed, that's all. That's what happened there." I read that twice and still have no idea what the hell Omar's saying. If Carlos talked to him last Friday and told him what the second opinion was, and Omar's response was that crazy shit back to him, it's real hard to find any fault with Carlos, except maybe failure to get an Omar-to-English (or Spanish) translator. I bet Brookstone has em.
  10. Oh, I thought he played some CF. Maybe I'm confusing him with that other guy.
  11. Looks like broken down Eric Byrnes got DFA'd today by the D-Bags. He's a couple years removed from sustained usefulness, but he can still pick it in the OF, and in his defense, had a pretty decent Sept/Oct run last year. Given our current shituation, I'd make a phone call anyway.
  12. I think it's like whole-bear. That's how I do anyway.
  13. Ed Fuckin' Price is ED-verywhere.
  14. Nah. I want good things from them, but pissed isn't where I live. I get none of the coverage or over-coverage you guys get, so that maybe helps. Dunno, it's never been a part of my life. Go Mets. Do better.
  15. Farmer Ted wrote: The Mets are already have a Bobby Livingston, Pat Misch. Let's think formidable starter. Signing Bobby Livingston, having Pat Misch, and thinking about a formidable starter are all possible at once!
  16. We somehow forgot to put him in the poll up there, but the Mets signed Bobby Livingston, late of the Reds, to a minor league deal today.
  17. The internet just told me that Adam LaRouche is about to write his name on a contract w/ the D-Bags for 1 year/$4-5 mils. I woulda been all over that shit. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/baseball/mlb/01/14/laroche.diamondbacks/index.html

He would also inherit Billy Wagner's role of Staff Bald Guy. Just rip my heart out of my chest, why don't you. Are the Mets to become the retirement home for ex-Braves hall of famers? And a tough and gritty ex-Brave from their glory years? That would be like inviting Osama Bin Laden to a Bar Mitzvah. At least Glavine was a wimp with no personality. Smoltz would be a disaster. Later That's in no way an overreaction.
  20. If you can wait til the 15th, I'm good for $5 bucks!
  21. Games also cannot be seen when heads are shoved stubbornly up asses. Guys and gals amongst the writers shouldn't have to see every out to know one dude's better and more deserving than another. I'm sure there'd be just as many good and shitty voters amongst the TV and radio folk.
