  1. Which right handed starting pitcher has the highest Met career rate for most strikeouts per nine innings (200 min. IP)? Which left handed starting pitcher has the highest Met career rate for most strikeouts per nine innings (200 min. IP)? A "Starting pitcher" is defined as one who has appeared in more games as a starter than as a reliever. All strikeouts for a pitcher thus defined as a starting pitcher were considered, including their strikeouts as a reliever.

G-Fafif 3. soupcan Well that's incredibly flattering and I hate to disappoint my fans, but I'm not certain that date works for me. It may, and if so I'll grab a ticket and meet youse guys. Me too, Soupy. I was also incredibly flattered by SS's request. Can I have some cake? I seem to recall it being my birthday right about now.
  3. I was sure that Skip Lockwood was a player of the week. He was. It was SI's award -- not MLB's.

Perhaps mostly privately because he's probably smart enough to understand that bitching openly would mar his image ... but then there's the tantrum he threw last year when Muffy muffed a fly to left that probably cost Johan a win. I don't recall Johan whining about any other flagrant Mets errors -- committed on some other pitcher's watch. Can you also tell us what David Wright thinks and feels in the deepest darkest recesses of his mind? Of course I can.
  5. It's a good thing I'm sitting it out, 'cause I woulda guessed Seaver, too.

And I think I figured out 4/73. Because I listened to Edgy and re-read his ramble. But I'm sitting out the last day of the season. I'm no Ted Williams.
  8. I'll go with the Allstar for '83 -- Orosco.
  9. I thought that Lincecum deserved his 2008 Cy, fair and square, even though Johan was jobbed out of several wins by his bullpen. But Johan was the NL's second best pitcher that year, which was not reflected in the CYA balloting. Here's a question: Johan's been in the majors long enough to be eligible for HOF consideration. If yesterday was his last game ever, does he deserve to get in, or does he need to do more? OE: I'd say that Johan's peak is HOF worthy. CY in 2004 and 2006. Rookd out of the CY in 2005. ERA champ and 2d best NL pitcher in 2008. But the voters might want more accumulation on the counting stats.
  10. Agee for 6/70.
  11. 7/94's gotta be Sabes, who was Cy Young caliber in '94.

  13. batmagadanleadoff: 10 Points (knows his Gooden months, late on Straw, nice work on Zachry!) Straw also won in 9/87. What? You forgot? Straw also won in 9/87. What? You forgot?
  14. Seaver for 6/75.
  15. Zachry 7/80.

But September 1985 wasn't too shabby either. An ERA of 0.00 in five starts! I stand corrected (even though I could weasel out of this one by noting the presence of the question mark in my quote) I didn't know that your database could do that.
  17. Sraw in 9/87. I remember this from a Donruss baseball card.
  18. Doc for 4/86. If it's the mid 80's, it's got to be Doc.
  19. Might as well go Doc for 9/85.
  20. 9/84 has to be Doc. Was that Doc's best month ever or was that Doc's best month ever?
  21. July '85 is Keith. No doubt on that. I remember him winning it in the month of the Rick Camp game.
  22. One of my favorites. One reviewer opined that RB is the scariest movie in which nothing scary actually happens.
  23. If they could send Cleon to first on a dab of shoe polish, then I suppose they could do what they just did.
  24. Charlie Manuel's a genius. He planned it that Votto would make the Mets pay for the snub.
