  1. if Frenchy's in, I'm out.
  2. ...it's on HoJo and Manuel on why an offense that's been marginalized by Bay's concussion and Ike's rookie slump is failing.

You've got Mets junk in the trunk. I've got piles of it up in the attic (pointing to head). You oughtta be in show business. Any opinion as to why Leon's in but Mickey's out?
  4. For the month of August, all four regular Mets starting pitchers have ERA's under 3.00: Santana -- 31 1/3 IP - 2.30 ERA Pelfrey -- 26 2/3 - 2.36 Dickey -- 26 1/3 - 2.73 Niese -- 30 1/3 - 2.97

Why Brown, but not Lolich? And if Lolich was initially included in the caricature but then cropped out after he announced his retirement, then why did Leon Brown remain in the caricature? Brown was traded before Lolich announced his retirement. Or did Lolich confirm that he would not return to the Mets for the 1977 season months before he officially announced his retirement? Where's Mickey? And Leo Foster? And Pepe Mangual?
  6. In about an hour, I'll ID whatever Mets remain unidentified. By the way, I didn't house clean or organize much of anything today. It was all downhill once I decided to post that mirror in this thread.

I tried to collect them all. Maybe they did that a few times over the years, I dunno. I remember the one of Willie Mays because he was making a basket catch with an actual basket, IIRC.

I imagine it's pretty rare, maybe not as rare as an orange juice squeezer shaped like Napoleon and the juice comes out the ears rare ... but rare. Cool find. I'd like to see the expression on the Emperor of Japan's face when he finds out it's missing.

  12. G-Fafif wrote: I'm going to stop obsessing on Leo Foster now. Top section 3 I THINK was identified in the Post as "Brown," as presumably Leon Brown, which I remember thinking "he probably means Leo Foster, but Rigby's Australian, what does he know?" Anyway, Top Section 3: Leon Brown. Get outta town, Brown! Are you saying that you haven't seen this piece in over 30 years but you can still remember the word "Brown" on Leon Brown's cap? Well ... now that you've identified the toughest Met on the glass to ID, you might as well jump ahead to the subjective trivia question. Brown's the biggest clue.

  14. Section 3 middle: Leo Foster I wouldn't blame you if you blamed it on Rigby, but that's not Leo Foster. Would Leo Foster be swinging a hammer? I didn't see the Ham... JOHN MILNER? Also, was blinded by Rigby's talent and missed the rules. Met-a culpa. According to Rigby. That caricature sucked, didn't it?

The artwork looked more Postish than Newsish to me, but I deferred to the prior owner's supposed knowledge. 23. Today is house cleaning and organizing day over here. I was going through some old stuff and came across this piece of Mets memorabilia. I stored it in a box decades ago (with other junk) and then forgot about it until today. Years (and years) ago, the Daily News ran a two-page centerfold caricature of the Mets, and then licensed that caricature for etching onto a glass mirror. The prior owner of this item told me that these glass mirrors were produced in limited quantities and are scarce. I have no idea how accurate that story is, or how rare this glass is. But I own one of these. How many Mets in the glass can you identify? Each Met is identified by last name on his cap, which I blacked out. One guess per post. Subjective trivia question: Which Met or Mets ought to have been included in the caricature, but wasnt/weren't?
