  1. http://www.baseball-almanac.com/teamstats/roster.php?y=1965&t=NYNhttp://www.baseball-almanac.com/teamstats/roster.php?y=1965&t=NYN According to Baseball Reference, but not MBTN or UMDB, Larry Miller of the Mets wore #16 for at least a part of the 1965 season. I bring this up because on June 27, 1965, Larry Miller relieved Al Jackson (#15). This would probably be the Mets record for the lowest total of consecutive numbered pitchers to appear consecutively in ascending uniform number order if Miller wore #16 on that date. Both MBTN and UMDB assign #16 exclusively to Danny Napoleon for '65. FWIW, Napoleon did not appear in that June game. Also, according to all of these sources, Napoleon wore no other uniform number as a Met (or with any other team being that he never played for any other MLB team). OE Napoleon debuted in the Mets 2nd game of the '65 season, and as far as I can tell, was on the roster all season. Plus, he played the game before and after Miller relieved Jackson. So it appears unlikely that this game set the low number record. But youse number people might wanna look into this Miller 16 stuff.
  2. The Low Point: June 27, 1965, Larry Miller (16) relieves Al Jackson (15).
  3. I'm not sure that "running up the score " is even a thing in baseball. It makes sense in football when, for example, the team with an insurmountable lead late in the game starts making 50 yard pass attempts. But in baseball? What is the team with the big lead supposed to do? Swing softly? Pull a Marv Throneberry and miss the bases after hitting the ball over the wall?
  4. Is there some moronic unwritten rule of baseball that you can't ask for a replay review when you're up by nine runs late in the game?
  5. It'll be shades of Bill Hands, 50th anniversary coming up and all.
  6. If the Mets keep this up, someone's getting beaned.
  7. =Centerfield post_id=13760 time=1561127904 user_id=65] *In the 17 years since the Wilpons took full control, the Mets have made the playoffs three times, including the one game playoff in 2016.
  8. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=13660 time=1561054265 user_id=68] Who cares about Brodie? It wouldn't matter if BVW was Albert Einstein and Branch Rickey all rolled into one with eff and Jeff sticking their greedy paws into everything. 28 out of 30 teams have bullpen problems? So why aren't 28 out of 30 teams under .500? I suppose 28 out of 30 teams play in the biggest market in the world, too. Two first place finishes in 31 seasons.

  10. Nolan Ryan McGuire! Three points for the answer. Four more for the stumping. 11 because this is one of the obscurest Mets ever. 33 because it doesn't even matter since I already won this contest with Leo Foster so I might as well get as many points as possible.
  11. New record. 10/1/99 - Wendell relieves Rogers in mid-inning.
  12. I'm back! Wendell relieves Hershiser in mid-inning, 4/14/99.

  16. Frank Thomas (Tom) Sturdivant.
  17. We must've had the same reel. Because those are the images I remember, too. Catwoman and some tigers.
  18. avi. (Whatever the hell that means).

Four for the stumping. Four more for the stumping because this is a great answer. And 22 for the Tom that Grimm stole from me.

  22. Bill Terry Bross! Three points for the answer. Seven points for stumping the judges. Two points for leapfrogging onto Chad's answer. And 22 points because Grimm stole one of my Toms.
  23. Hack Wilson Delgado
  24. Frank Thomas (Tom) Edens.
  25. Pee Wee Reese Havens. I'll take three points for the answer: three points for the first round draft pick; three points for Reese not ever making it to the majors: eight points for stumping the judges and ten points for the statue.
