6-1. Interesting. I was wondering if it was just me. I was sitting here earlier today thinking "God, why doesn't Sandy just offer more years." Then I got to thinking, if it's just between the O's and Mets (big assumption) he may not need to. He might be playing this perfectly. Who knows. Glad to hear the Mets are sniffing around though.

I voted Mets. And not just because I'm a Mets fan. If I take the O's offer, I'm undermarket for 5 years. Being the diva that I am, I can see myself growing disgruntled over that time and being miserable. It's hard to get by on $15 million per. I think I gamble on myself. I have the world of confidence. Have you heard my custom walk up song? Hit the market again next year when the free agent market sucks. And cash in. I'm guessing I get another offer for $15 million per next year as well. Even if I get injured.

You are Yoenis Cespedes. You have two offers on the table. 1 year, 25 million from the Mets. 5 years, 75 million (15 per) from the Orioles. Both are real offers. Both expire today. For the sake of this exercise, everyone else in baseball is out. If you pass up on these, you have to sell hot dogs from a cart. Which offer do you take? And remember, you're coming off a 4 year, $36 million deal, so you're not exactly hurting for money as it is.

Whether he does or not we just don't have enough. Even if Yo likes d'Kong, we're still 71 virgins short.

Great, great stuff. I think if I had a time machine, the first thing I'd do is go see a baseball game. Some thoughts: 1. Lots of headfirst sliding. Would not have thought this to be that common. 2. The mound looks pretty flat. 3. Really like the dancing third base coach. Just odd and funny. 4. I like the shot of the A's $100k infield. That's roughly about what the A's are spending now. 5. Deadball Era Footage: Where were the first half 2015 Mets? (rimshot) 6. Really cool to see the crowd, all decked out, smoking, cheering their hearts out. Must have been pretty cool during this time, where basketball hadn't been invented yet, and there was no such thing as "ESPN Countdown to the Morning of the NFL PreGame Show the Night Before".

Agreed. My thinking on this: 1. Seems pretty clear that the Mancuso report is wrong. Everyone else is saying it's not true. 2. I have no idea why the Phils and Braves would be in on Cespedes. Not saying that they're not, but these guys are rebuilding. A short term deal for an expensive outfielder is just strange. 3. Why would the O's offer 5 years when everyone else is discussing a short term deal? I wonder if someone on the O's leaked this to get Chris Davis's attention. I'll keep hoping, but I think anything significant is a long shot.

I was hunting around for some sort of formula, or writeup, but couldn't find one. Don't know what to make of it, so I'll leave it to those more in the know.

I didn't realize we still had him under control for that long. Definitely makes sense to wait. If anyone looks up "spending for the sake of spending", that Ryan Howard extension is exhibit 1A. Almost makes you wonder if Howard had dirt on someone.

I'd say that the chances of you winning Powerball are higher than the Mets platooning Granderson and Lagares. So the Mets will tell you Granderson is not capable of playing CF and trot out De Aza instead.

But they project a similar correction year for Granderson (.740 OPS). Which is why I think ultimately Justin Upton is probably the best pick. Upton is coming off a down year, and moving out of SD will likely uptick his production. If signed, he would be the only Met projected over .800 in OPS. Plus, with good plate discipline, he is an "Alderson" type hitter. As to positions, the numbers for Lagares and Granderson call for a platoon. I know the Mets are resistant to doing this, but this is the best baseball move. Granderson can fake it in CF for half of this year. As it will probably play out, he may play himself out of a starting job this year or next. Lagares, you would hope, will get better.

I tell you what, if I'm a LH kid growing up in the West Indies, I'm pretty annoyed that my parents signed me up for cricket instead of turning me into a middle reliever.

This is good. I always felt it would get done. There is not another fan base out there that would find him nearly as interesting as we do.

I wonder if the raves that Dominic Smith is getting are cooling the Mets drive to ink Duda long term. He's a real mystery. Streaky as all hell, but 30 HR guys come at a premium these days. And he'd hit about 45 if he played in some of these other parks.
