  2. This shit is crazy. So basically Harvey goes out drinking all night. Then goes golfing first thing in the morning, then drives home. Then he gets a headache. Big fucking surprise. Going out drinking all night then head straight to golf. Gets home, falls asleep, doesn't call in sick. Responds only to Warthen's text message, then passes out and doesn't respond again. The Mets send a crew to check on him, partly out of concern, mostly out of suspicion. What a fucking mess.
  3. This is all so fucking annoying. First off, I think JCL was right and Harvey is a fucking douchebag. I've given this guy every benefit of the doubt, but you don't just not show up. Fucking stupid. Everyone knows you don't call in sick. You come in, throw up all over the floor/sneeze everywhere/pass out suddenly, then get sent home by your boss while you insist the whole time that you are ok. Anyone who's ever had a job knows this. I have a hard time believing he had a real migraine, and wasn't just fucking hung over from drinking in the golf cart all day. Wake up early, drink all through the round, come home dehydrated and hung over, get a 4 p.m. "migraine" then pass the fuck out. I'm guessing the Mets were as understanding about this as most wives when you tell them that you can't take the kids and do all the shit you promised after golf because of your "migraine". As for the Mets, did they tell Harvey that he would risk suspension? Did they sit him down and say, this shit has to stop. Next one, we are suspending you, and doing it publicly. It just seems like a bullshit move that Harvey showed up ready to start, and then was sent home. And why the secrecy? It's not like it wasn't going to come out anyway. Seems all so stupid to me. I hate everyone.
  4. So not Adam Wilk.
  5. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Yeah, I think Keith was saying that Ramirez doesn't decide who goes on the disabled list, or who plays in a game. So if Cespedes returned to action too soon, it wasn't Ray's call. Nor was he the one who decided it was okay for Syndergaard to pitch on Sunday. Yes, I highly doubt Ray Ramirez was walking around saying "Fuck the MRI, I say he's fine."

We won the first round, but the second round on Winona Rider films did not go well. Music trivia is coming up in one of the two final rounds. Hoping to kick some ass in that round. Well did you win?!?!? Talk about cliffhangers.
  7. Maybe it can rain until Noah and Ces are ready.
  8. batmagadanleadoff wrote: I don't think this game's any more important than any of the others. Who cares about the order in which the wins come? Its the total that counts. OK, it's against a division rival so there's that, I suppose. But not much more that I can see. I feel like the order does matter. I have no way of proving this, but it certainly seems to make a difference. Psyche, morale, etc. In the same way it feels like the order in which runs scored matters. The Mets were up 5-0, and eventually won 16-5. You could say it doesn't matter how the runs were scored, at the end it was not a close game. But I feel like had the Mets jumped in front 5-0, and then let Atlanta tie the game, the end result could have been much different. No way to back it up, but just a hunch.
  9. Frayed Knot wrote: Winning three of four sounds a helluva lot better than finishing up this series two-and-two It is raining now and is expected to rain most of the day in Atlanta (and presumably in nearby Cumberland, Georgia as well) before slacking off sometime this evening. iow, this game may or may not start on time and there's a chance it won't come off at all. Agreed. This is a pretty big game. Win it and you've won 2/3 against the Nats and 3/4 against the Braves. 5-2 is encouraging. 4-3 is ok.
  10. Michael Conforto in May 2016 BA: .169 OBP: .242 SLG: .349 OPS: 591 2017 BA: .500 OBP: .563 SLG.857 OPS: 1.420
  11. I definitely would have gotten my self tossed on that Suzuki swing.
  12. Edgy MD wrote: I also have to think you come out of the dugout and argue for your player when a batter so indifferently interferes with him like that and gets him injured. Makes me absolutely crazy. From the Tejada play to the Suzuki HBP last night. Terry has got to come out and throw a fit when this happens. Sure, it may not do much, but I think it helps morale. Picks a team up. Helps change the mood from "Woe is me" to "Fuck these guys man".
  13. I think you have to DL him. Sit him down and let him heal, then come back at full strength. The two HR game was terrific, but those have been his only hits since he hurt his wrist. He had an OPS in the high .800's and it's fallen to .762. Get the guy healthy.
  14. I was thinking of starting this thread. Every year it seems like he waits for this to show up before he starts hitting.
  15. If you are feeling down today, I found this article cheered me up: http://www.northjersey.com/story/sports/mlb/mets/2017/05/03/noah-syndergaard/309182001/ Important points: *The doctor quoted here thinks 2-3 months for Noah. Which means there is a good chance we have him for the entire second half. I'm good with that. *Matz and Lugo threw off the mound and had no discomfort. This is good. We are in a pitching crisis now, but if just one of these guys can be ready in a few weeks, we just have to hold the fort until then. The upcoming schedule is not tough. There is enough talent to win until then. *Ces and Duda are rehabbing. As is Flores. I would guess Wilmer will be the first back. Duda and Ces following within a week or two. Other reasons to be optimistic: *I actually thought Harvey was better than his line showed. His stuff seems to be coming back. You figure he's going to be rusty still after so much time off. Once he gets comfortable I think he will get that confidence and swagger back. Big second half for the Harvster. *We are two days into May and Michael Conforto is still hitting!
  16. Sounds like a poor man's Dillon Gee. And the guy who had the actual Dillon Gee was not all that rich to begin with.
  17. Was it this article Ben? I don't see the mention of 3-4 months. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/noah-syndergaard-headed-dl-partial-tear-lat-muscle-article-1.3123054
  18. Where do you go for a short-term hookup while BAE is away? Vegas! Which one of these makes you swipe right? Adam Wilk. We saw him in spring training. Nothing special here. 5 games started. 5.60 ERA Ricky Knapp. Um. Don't know much about Ricky. But I found this from 2013: The Mets used their eighth-round selection on Florida Gulf Coast righty Ricky Knapp. While Knapp doesn’t offer an incredibly high ceiling or premier stuff, his knowledge of the craft creates a sort of gestalt effect whereby he succeeds beyond expectations. Exciting! Full article here: http://www.amazinavenue.com/2013/6/10/4416556/2013-mets-draft-results-ricky-knapp Tyler Pill. 3 game started, 19 innings pitched. 0.00 ERA!!! 2 games started, 10.2 innings pitched in AA. 0.00 ERA!!! Who is this ace in the hole? In 2014 he was a pitcher on the rise. http://www.pressconnects.com/story/sports/columnists/2014/08/15/tyler-pill-pitcher-mets-prospect/14125533/ Pill does not overpower hitters. His fastball sits around 90 miles per hour, but he has shown good enough "stuff" to get batters to swing and miss regularly. He has struck out six batters or more in a game, nine times this season for the B-Mets (19 games)....After a rocky start this season that included five consecutive losses, Pill has found a rhythm on the mound using an arsenal of pitches that includes a fastball, curveball, slider and changeup. Pill added a slider to his repertoire while pitching for St. Lucie in 2012. Wilfredo Boscan. 5 games started. 2.66 ERA. Report from 2016: Like all finesse pitchers Boscan will need to prove his approach will work in the majors, but he's got nothing left to prove in Triple-A. In the majors he projects as an 11th man on a staff, suitable for relief work or emergency starts. http://www.minorleagueball.com/2016/5/19/11718452/mlb-rookie-report-wilfredo-boscan-rhp-pittsburgh-pirates Donovan Hand. 7.16 ERA. From 2015: He was mostly an 89-91 MPH guy with his four seamer and 88-90 with his two seamer. He relies heavily on his two seamer, mixing in an occasional four seam fastball. He also throws a change up and a slider with a change up every few games. The slider is an above-average pitch. http://redsminorleagues.com/2015/01/17/cincinnati-reds-sign-rhp-donovan-hand/
  19. I think it's strange that there is no time frame given at all. Not even like a "6-12" weeks type of thing. Matter of weeks could mean 2 to 94. Also, no other info given about the tear. I guess it's their right not to give any more info than they feel like. Makes me wonder if he is out for the season, but playing it close to the vest so that they don't undermine their leverage even more in a potential trade.
  20. I know it's not possible, but I feel like I knew more before that update. On Edit: Meant to be a comment on Sandy's nothingspeak, not FK's reporting skills. Re-read it and thought it sounded unintentionally dicky.
  21. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Duda, Syndergaard and Cespedes all noted Barwis guys. David Wright too right?
  22. So you figure it's probably unrelated to the biceps tendinitis right? These muscles are nowhere near each other. I wonder if it's more a result of the extra bulk he put on this off-season. More muscle can mean less flexibility. Maybe resulting in a strain or tear. Dunno.
  23. How long was Matz out for his lat? Wasn't it like 2 months? I suspect the same for Noah. Yes, that is wild speculation with no basis of evidence.
  24. Not doing the MRI. So fucking stupid.
