  1. It seems to me that Stearns is so averse to bad long term contracts that he’s ended up with worse ones. He hated the Nimmo contract. Ended up with Semien. And also paying $6M to Nimmo. Didn’t want to hand out a long term contract to older starting pitchers. Ended up with Frankie Montas and Sean Manaea. Didn’t want to hand out a long contract to a big bat. Ended up with Bichette and Polanco. Neither look likely to give you the return he was hoping for. Didn’t want McNeil. Ate nearly $6M. Took a flyer on Luis Robert that he’d hit better than the last two years. He hasn’t. And the defense hasn’t been as advertised. It is truly astonishing how crappy this roster is given the payroll. And if this season is going to be saved, it’s going to come down to the kids stepping up for the underperforming highly paid veterans.
  2. I didnt think managers got canned before Memorial Day. I wish we’d follow suit.
  3. Senga tomorrow. I’m sure that will go well.
  4. The rule is freeze on a line drive. Pham was nowhere in sight.
  5. The Mets will need to break that 0 and a bazillion when trailing after the end of 8 record.
  6. Nothing like a pinch runner making a baserunning mistake. Ridiculous
  7. That’s my feeling too. Polanco also not close.
  8. I hate how every game some scrub pitcher has his longest outing of the year. “Scrubberson has never gone more than 4 innings in his career. Tonight he’s allowed 2 hits through 7…”
  9. Why won’t the Mets tell us what grade of strain?
  10. I can’t figure out if Brazoban coming out was good or bad. On the one hand, he did get one out. And maybe that was the difference. On the other hand, maybe that disruption got Williams out of rhythm.
  11. I always thought someone would get hurt on a home run trot because the lights are out.
  12. I’ve seen 7 runs score in the five minutes since I sat down.
  13. I think it’s me. I missed last nights game. I just came home and turned on the TV and saw this stupid grand slam.
  14. No timetable yet. But Mendy says he’ll be down for “quite a bit”. It’s worse than Soto.
  15. This is true. I remember thinking Wilmer must be flat footed. He was not only slow. He acted like his feet/ankles had fewer joints than the rest of us.
  16. A lot of those guys had a bit more frame to move so it’s understandable. Mark Vientos is a young, fit dude. It’s inconceivable how slow he is. Olerud was surprising too. For a guy that all and that athletic he was crazy slow.
  17. Missed this game. I can’t believe we finally won and lost Lindor. the baseball gods hate us.
  18. He throws with his left hand. Had an ERA over 5 in the minors last year. Thats all I got.
  19. Realistically: 1. Bichette I would think might be hard to move considering it’s an opt out. Like what team would want to be on the hook for $42 annually? Plus you have to cover his opt out bonus. 2. Polanco. Sure. But it’s a 2 year deal, so you’re throwing in money. I would guess not much of a return. 3. Peralta can get you a haul. 4. Minter/Raley. Maybe a low level prospect. 5. Holmes. Can get you something good if he keeps it up. 6. Luis Robert. Depends on how he’s doing. Maybe we can get Luisangel back. 7. Senga, Peterson. Not worth much I’d imagine.
  20. In 2024 they had a bunch of things break the right way in order to go on a run. The good news is there’s plenty of time for that to happen. A few things that can happen realistically: 1. Lindor and Bichette will be much better than they have shown. I think this goes without saying. 2. Soto comes back. 3. Baty and Vientos have never hit in April. I expect both will pick it up. How much they bounce back is TBD 4. Polanco will heal and might be productive. 5. Senga or Peterson might figure it out. Maybe both. I’m a little more inclined to think it will be Peterson. 6. Benge might figure it out. 7. Christian Scott might be good. If not maybe Tong. Or maybe Jack Wenninger. 8. Minter comes back. Ryan Lambert is good. Our pen improves. of these things, I think only 1 and 2 are a given. Everything else, well. We’re just hoping.
