  1. It's sometimes tough to find a good Sporcle baseball quiz. Some are too easy, and some for me too difficult. For those like me, I highly recommend this guy's quizzes (mostly baseball, but other sports too). Appealing enough subjects to keep me engaged, with a mix of simple and difficult answers that sometimes leave you smiling and sometimes scratching your head. https://www.sporcle.com/user/narb13/contributed
  2. Biggest news here is someone actually leaving FAN. Guys seem to stay there forever. Somers, Francesa, Chernoff, Benigno, Coleman, Minko. Even that dope Evan Roberts has to be there a decade now. They've cornered the NYC sports talk market for whatever that is worth, and seems like they see no need to adjust or adapt to a changing landscape of sports fandom. But I guess they "get the ratings" so they don't feel the need to change. I'm interested to see what they do.
  3. STOLEN BASES: One of the greatest players of all time, as he'll surely tell you; somehow only stole 42 bases as a Met. Rickey
  4. RBI: Always solid, never great outfielder who bounced around the AL for a while, got traded to the Mets in 1980, driving in 42 runs, and then spent his most productive years in the 80s with the Braves and then the Yankees. Claudell Washington
  5. I didn't hate Aaron Heilman.
  6. I'll give my MFY-loving acquaintances this: they universally think this guy is a douche. I'm not well-versed in all things MFY, but the chances are 100% that if I see Randy Levine's name in a headline, there will be a stupid comment from him within the article. Also, he's not the owner, and he's not the GM. What exactly does he do? And why should we care what he has to say?
  7. Didn't Ralph once call him Khadafy while reading the lineup?
  8. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Best memory: October 25, 1986. Me too, as stated earlier in this thread. There's no topping that one, is there? Where were you sitting? I don't have my stub anymore, but I got them from a friend of my dad's who worked as an usher* (before I was born my dad worked the stadiums and the Garden as an usher in a little side-hustle, and he still had good buddies at Shea). I want to say we were either section 1 or 3 of the upper deck, right behind home plate. I think it was row 8 of the upper reserved, and we were right on the aisle. * Mets gave all ushers the option to buy tickets to any WS game. Dad's buddy bought 2 and sold them to dad with a slight mark up. Of course I VCR'd the game, and if you watch the NBC broadcast post game, when Marv Albert interviews Ray Knight on the field there's an usher standing next to them on camera--it was the guy who sold dad the tickets!
  9. I had a similar experience with some seats I won by answering a quiz given by the Amazin' Bill Mazer, that wasn't a stumpy as he thought. Donna, Fabio, and I arrived and found out we were in for a treat. It was the debut of Shawn Hare. We had not only not heard of the transaction, but had never heard of him as a minor leaguer, nor even as the American Leaguer he had been 2–3 years earlier. Shawn went 1-4 with a walk and we spent the whole game coming up with horrific back page puns to serve has headlines for future Hare-oics that were NEVER going to come—because these were the 1994 Mets, and the end was nigh. Is that the quiz where he thought you were cheating? Earliest memory: my first-ever game was 8/20/73 vs. the Reds. Seaver v. Billingham. Game went 16 innings; we left after 12 got home in time to see the last inning and watch Kiner's Korner.http://ultimatemets.com/gamedetail.php?gameno=1908&tabno=B Best memory: October 25, 1986.
  10. Is Mesoraco hurt again?
  11. 20. The years/positions helped a lot.
  12. I'm a big fan of Duda. And my like for him is bolstered by the seemingly irrational hatred for the Dude on Mets/SNY social media. Then again those people seem to hate everything.
  13. He could pass for the father of Josh Satin and/or Michael Conforto.
  14. Can Puerto Rico seriously not come up with 25 guys for the WBC without resorting to playing a guy born and raised in the Bronx?
  15. within the first five weeks of the season, the Mets host the Braves 2x and the Marlins 2x. Seems like an odd quirk of the schedule. The Braves leave Citi Field on April 27, then don't come back again until Sep. 25.
  16. Career year last year. .933 OPS, that .130 higher than any other full or partial season. His career though: .900 OPS at Coors, .727 away from Denver. I guess it all depends on the asking price.
  17. A Boy Named Seo wrote: Matt Holliday to the Yankees. He seems like such a perfect Yankee, even more than he was a perfect Cardinal, with his easy, annoying, hateability. He looks like an adult Caillou. For those of you without kids, that is NOT a good thing.
  18. I voted
  19. The '85 OF is Rickey. Being Rickey of course
  20. If the '93 2B isn't Alomar, then I'm guessing it's Carlos Baerga.
  21. Was Delgado a miss as well?
  22. 2003 1B Carlos Delgado
  23. 1995 1B. Mo Vaughn
  24. 1993 2b Robbie Alomar
