  1. ... and this is why you don't trade surplus pitching depth too quickly. Having Dillon Gee back in the rotation makes this something a lot less than a disaster. Syndegaard and Matz can still replace Gee and Colon when they are ready to do so. Montero is in an interesting position, because the pen might need him now too -- I don't see the Mets bringing two lefties north without Edgin, and Gee is no longer a pen option -- but he's more majors-ready right now than Syndegaard or Matz if something else happens to the rotation. Plus, I'm very leery of stretching a guy out after shortening him up.
  2. Pretty decent numbers: 2.80 ERA in 65 IP, Parnell and/or Familia will have to be really good to unseat him.
  3. I'm going with LWFS on this one. He'll force his way into the lineup at least against righties by being a much better fielder than Cuddyer and a better hitter than Granderson.
  4. His second go-round will be much better than the first, but it will come mostly as a reliever. 45 IP in 25 games with a 3.15 ERA.

  6. One thing that got lost last season was how he dramatically cut down on strikeouts as the year went on. I think that sets him up well for this year. .285/.325/.455, with 35 doubles and 10 home runs. Leads the team in WAR by a wide margin.
  7. Stays in AAA until late August. Logs some innings at shortstop in Vegas, but it doesn't amount to anything long-term. Will get the full-time gig at 2B next year, but we won't see a whole lot of him in Queens in 2015.
  8. 16-10, 2.80 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 210 K in 200 IP. I'm bullish.
  9. Gilmartin get the spot and does well enough. 70 G, 54 IP, 3.30 ERA, 1.25 WHIP.
  10. The defining question of the Mets' 2015 season will be how quickly they realize that Granderson is no longer a better ballplayer than Kirk Nieuwenhuis.
  11. The hardest guy to predict. My money is on him being dealt late spring, but a lot of things can happen.
  12. He'll put up numbers a lot like the .289/.332/.403 that Murphy put up last year. And like Murphy, he'll be below average defensively for his position but not brutally so.
  13. I see him going north, but he's already had his career year. Gets DFAd in June.
  14. 75 IP, 75 K, 3-3, 2.75 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 7 saves.
  15. An even half of our games, 65 IP, 60 K, 3.00 ERA, 1.12 WHIP.
  16. I'll set last year's performance as the median expectation for this year: 30 hr, 92 rbi, .253/.349/.481.
  17. Doesn't do enough with limited opportunities, and goes elsewhere in the offseason.
  18. Once again, I feel like I'm almost copying MFS62. I'll say 14-9, 2.95 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, over 200 K.

  20. 25 hr, 80 RBI, .270/.330/.520.

First impressions seem to count a little too much. But that's hardly unique to the judgment of baseball players.
  22. 500 AB, 22 hr, 70 RBI, .270/.320/.480
  23. EY put up some solid hitting numbers in the minors, but other than a brief stretch in 2012 for the Rockies, it never translated. I kind of got the sense that somebody told him he needed to put the ball on the ground to best utilize his speed -- which, unless you have Ichiro-in-his-prime bat control, is basically the worst thing you can tell somebody. His seasonal batting averages are pretty much anti-correlated with his ground ball rates, and for his sake I hope his next hitting instructor is aware of that. His other problem is that he tried so hard to work the count and draw walks, but as long as he was more likely to take a fat pitch than do something worse than hit a single with it, nobody was going to pitch him carefully.
  24. Somebody needs to tell him to stop hitting so many damn ground balls.
  25. Another guy the team handled correctly last year. I'm going to say 65 IP with 70 K, a 2.70 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP.
