  5. According to the story in today's NY Post, we may not feel too bad that we don't have a pic of Mrs. DeFelice. The paper says he was unfailthful , so a divorce may be in the near future. EDIT: JUst saw the other thread. Sorry for the dupe. Later
  6. Edgy DC wrote: Vic= seawolf17? Nope. from their posts, wolf said he had him on one team, Vic said he had him on two. Do they look that much alike to you? Later
  7. Edgy DC wrote: I'm not sure what's being insinuated here. Nothing by me. I just reported what I had read, and wonder why the Mets would look at other alternatives to bring up from the minors. Eli is already on the ML roster and had been a semi-regular catcher in the majors. Later
  8. The Daily News mantioned this morning that the Mets might have to put Castro on the DL (I forget the nature of his injury). It then went on to mention Mike DeFelice and someone else (a "veteran" now at Norfolk) as the possible replacements. I think that says a lot about the possibility of seeing Marrero behind the plate. 9. You carry around a smelly batting glove? That can't be too heavy. I wouldn't call it a burden. Later
  10. Yancy Street Gang wrote: ="MFS62"]2 for 1 dances when the Mets score? What happens when one of the patrons scores? He finds an $18,000 charge on his credit card statement. Are you kidding? Even Angelina Jolie wouldn't be worth eighteen thou......., uh, let me think about this some more. LOL! Later

  12. That's MISTER Miyagi to you. Later
  13. As reported on WFAN. 4 years, $22.5 million. Russo is ranting - screaming that Reyes should fire his agent and mentioning that Omar Viaquel gets $5 million per. Now let's sign David long term. Later
  14. Here are his numbers. http://www.baseball-reference.com/o/ortizda01.shtml You can't really tell from his defensive stats, but he had the reputation as a goshawful fielder. So that's probably why the NL teams passed on him. But he was making under $1 million per year, so I can't imagine why a small market team such as Kansas City didn't try to sign him. He immediately filled the "Vic Wertz - Big Fat First Baseman Who Can Hit" memorial roster spot for Boston, later held by Mo Vaughn. Later
  15. SteveJRogers wrote: Is there a reason Sanchez wasn't put on the 60 day DL? Is there a limit on the DL placements? There is a 3 person limit on the number of players that can be on the 60 day DL at one time. Players on that list do not count against a team's 40 man roster. I think they put him on the 15 day list because they had to do something immediately in order to bring up another player, and it was done before they knew the full extent of his injuries. He can be transferred to the 60 day list if they need to add someone to the 40 man roster. Later
  16. July 1, 2003: Ring was traded by the Chicago White Sox with Andrew Salvo (minors) and Edwin Almonte to the New York Mets for Roberto Alomar and cash. Later
  17. I recall that one Supreme Couty Judge said about pornography, "I can't define it, but I know it when I see it". We've had several discussions here about "clutch hitter". Some have come up with a number of different statistical definitions. Some have said it doesn't exist. As for me, I might not be able to come up with a definition, but the numbers FK posted will make me think of that term when I look at Big Papi. Later
  18. At what the Mets would have had to pay him under the current bargaining agreement, no. At when the Padres are paying him, yes. EDIT: and for the Mets to have signed him at that salary, he couldn't have joined the major league team until after May 1. They couldn't have waited that long, and had to do something. Later
  19. I'm still trying to figure out how Jose Lima tallied as much as a .12. Later
  20. I can't wait for someone covering the Braves to come up with a headline about Ryan Langerhans that's Diabetes-related. SC=100 Later
  21. Does anyone think that once the season is over, we'll star seeing stories about how Wagner's finger was never fully healed? Later
  22. Speaking of rotations, as the result of recent moves the rotation at Norfolk will include Pelfrey, Bannister and Perez. The rest of the rotation possibles include lefty prospect Evan McClain, Iriki and Lima. Well, three (maybe four) out of six ain't bad. Later
  23. Speaking of the news, in today's early edition of the NY Daily News, the headline over the article about him being brought up was "Royce Rolls into Shea" (or something like that). Rolls Royce. Clever, eh? Not really. He's probably heard that play on his name a thousand times. And as soon as we heard of him, we all probably thought of it, too. Edgy, you're a professional editor. Would you allow a headline like that in your publication? Later
  24. ]On a sinking liner to shallow right, Milledge approached the ball tentatively, then stopped, allowing it to bounce in front of him for a single when it was obvious it was very, very catchable. Alex Ochoa disease. Later
  25. With a bullpen of Owens, Lindstrom and Smith, all of whom throw serious heat, they can give batters a lot of o-fers. LAter
