  1. OK, I'll accept that since your studies have been thoroughly discussed on this site (various fora). (calming down) But if I had said that this was a friend who's baseball aptitude and evaluation skills I trusted had told me that he had seen the guy play and this was his opinion, don't you have to accept that as much as any other source? Would you ask for a tape recording of the conversation? Or just accept it as an opinion? And what makes his opinion more or less credible that anyone else's? In fact, I gave you his credentials with his scouting report. Or if someone says IIRC, do you ask for a link to their memory? I'm getting philosophical here, not personal. So please don't take it that way. I'm trying to understand your way of accepting/ not accepting information. And BTW- I was Directory of Quality for a major telecom company and sat on their software quality review board. So please don't patronize me calling yourself an "information specialist". I've project managed the implementation of systems that I'm certain have provided for the security of you and your family as you have gone through Newark Airport. Later
  2. Of course there was no link. As I said at the time, it was his personal evaluation sent to me and a few others. But after I told you that, you still asked for the link. When I told you I couldn't send you one, you dismissed it out of hand. When I re-read it after all this time, it still rankled me that this younger generation doesn't accept anything that isn't posted on a public website. Later

  4. themetfairy wrote: And any of that would explain where he is now? Whatever. No, but it was a scouting report I sent you when you posted here that you were adopting him. It was appropriate at that time. I personally don't care where he is now, nor waswhat I sent you intended to answer that question. Later

  6. themetfairy wrote: I saw the report, but I'm reluctant to post it here because it doesn't cite source material. The source was a Mets fan living in Germany who was the commissioner of a German baseball league. You want his name? Andres Dubai. He used to post on some baseball sites as Dr. Dooby. And I've known him for over ten years. and I TOLD YOU THAT! I try to do you a favor by sending you something, a personal scouting review that you probably could not have gotten elsewhere, about one of your kids and you ask me for the source after I gave it to you? Incredible. Oh, you're welcome. Later
  7. A few weeks ago, Mike was doing the show alone, and he mentioned that (I paraphrase) "Mad Dog gets to take a lot of vacation and I don't". I guess nobody had told him that the dog also works a regular shift (alone) on weekends. Anyhow, I thought at the time that he sounded like a little baby. For all I know, that may have been the proverbial straw. Later

  10. ="Frayed Knot"]The article then goes on to consult various ... and business leaders who see nothing unusual or cruel about the firing. I can believe that. I was a Michael Milkin poster boy of the 80's, worked for several companies and business units that got consolidated/ merged/ chopped up/ sold off. At one, the Personnel Department sent out an email on a Friday afternoon stating that "your job has been transferred to Portland Oregon (from Connecticut) as of Monday morning". It went on to say that "If you do not report to work on Monday, your absence will be considered a resignation". I'm not kidding. That happened. LAter

  13. If you're going to war tomorrow, you'd better win soon, or you might be dead in a number of years. So I pick Rollins to fight for me tomorrow, even though he's older. "Number of years" wasn't specific enough. Later
  14. The 16 year old prospect played his first pro game last night. Got his first home run. I'm beaming. Later
  15. Over the past few days there has been some speculation in the press and on local sports radio that some of the coaches might be fired. (There was one in the early edition of my local paper. But when I went to find a link, the story had been replaced on their website by the Willie firing story) And it may just be that when Omar told Willie that they would be fired, Willie stood up for them and got himself fired, too. If it ever comes out that's the way it went down, Willie will have earned my respect as a person that he never earned as a manager. Later
  16. I don't think there is a good or bad time or place to finally pass a kidney stone. You're just thankful that it has passed. Later
  17. Regarding the thread title (thanks for the post, by the way). I remember reading an interview with Koosman when he joined the Mets. This is as best as I can recall it. One reporter (forget which, there were more newspapers those days) noticed an unusual name beginning with "K" and asked Koosman if he was Jewish. Koosman asked the reporter why he asked. The reporter told him that if he were Jewish, he would make a lot of money playing in New York. And Koosman replied with a wink "Then I guess you could write that I'm Jewish". Later

  19. In the key playoff game against the Yanks (the one that the manager got fired for bad bullpen decisions) Nixon caused that loss. If Trot doesn't misjudge Jeter's fly ball, then turn the wrong way turning it into a "double", Pedro is in the clubhouse smoking a vctory cigar and the Red Sox continue on instead of the Yanks. IIRC the fans on the SOSH* website were really down on Trot after that game. I wonder what Pedro will think of this acquisition. Later *=Sons of Sam Horn
