  1. ="seawolf17":11yncmqm]Didn't they call it "New Comiskey" for a while too?[/quote:11yncmqm] Who is they? The White Sox? White Sox fans? The fans in Chicago? The papers in Chicago? But this is the official website of major league baseball itself. And that's why I asked if anyone knew if this is the official name of that place. Not just what some may call it. Later Frayed Knot Apr 04 2009 06:44 AM No, I don't believe 'New' is part of the official name. 'Fucking Gargantuan Edifice to Conspicuous Consumption' may be, although I'd have to check on that to be sure. G-Fafif Apr 04 2009 06:55 AM I believe that someday Seawolf will punch that arrogant Brian Brueny at New Yankee Stadium on his fat nose. MFS62 Apr 09 2009 06:56 PM Here's one you might not have heard about. (Thank you, Onion) http://www.theonion.com/content/video/yankees_buil ding_new_vacation Later Kong76 Apr 09 2009 08:39 PM Dude, your link actually pointed to this: http://www.theonion.com/content/video/study_children_exposed_to Figure out how to work stuff, child porn humor ain't for here. Later metsguyinmichigan Apr 09 2009 10:01 PM I clicked the link and thought, "Damn, the bleeping Yankees really ARE trying to appeal to everyone. Now I know why they have that massive video board in center." MFS62 Apr 10 2009 07:36 AM Let's try that again. And let the ad finish. http://www.theonion.com/content/video/yankees_building_new_vacation EDIT: I tried it after I re-posted and it worked. Later
  2. I just went on mlb.com to check the box scores. I noticed that the Mets' game tonight was played at "CitiField". The Yankees' game tonight was played at "New Yankee Stadium". Is that going to be the official name of that place? Later
  3. ="Edgy DC"] The Mets were widely considered the likeliest destination, as they almost always are when an expensive asshole needs a home (see Manny). A brief, but accurate, description. Later
  4. OlerudOwned wrote: In his most dominant outing last year, he threw 99 fastballs and 9 offspeed pitches. That Pelf could do that to a lineup with just his fastball is a fantastic sign, as far as his ceiling goes, but there's no way he could go out and do it every start. He could be Brandon Webb with a faster sinking fastball if he finds a secondary pitch as good as Webb's changeup. I'm not sure, but I think Drek Lowe also throws a very high percentage of sinking fastballs. Later

  6. Welcome abordick. Now. Time for rookie hazing. Climb up on that virtual table in the middle of the room and sing your school's fight song. (One of these days, someone might actually do it) Later
  7. The Mets are something like 5-1 or 6-1 since they got all of their WBC players back with the team. Later

  11. Funny, on the day Livian was signed, I posted about his .233 career BA and joked that maybe they were signing him for his bat. (Can't find the link). Sometimes, the things you say in jest.... Later
  12. You'da thought they asked him to wear one of Aaron's dirty jock straps. Later
  13. Well played. Good question. Helpful clues. I'd still advise you to have someone else open your packages and start your car for you for a while. Later
  14. Come on already. I'm putting curare on my pitchfork. Later
  15. Is it a coincidence that he said he would reveal the answer today? April Fools Day? What if there is no answer? Pitchfiorks and torches. Who's with me? Later
  16. It was an inside-the-park homer. The outfielder let it get by him. And, according to the radio crew, the guy's name is pronounced MAY- low. He's Canadian, and maybe he is developing late in his career because those folks don't get to play as many games as Americans and Latin Americans do. Other than that possibility, who knows? Later
  17. That guy Ross is a pesky pain in the posterior. Later
  18. ="Benjamin Grimm"]I find it surprising that The Sporting News still has a print edition. I'm actually surprised that it still exists in any form at all. The day they stopped printing box scores they ceased being a credible baseball paper. And they used to call themselves The Bible of Baseball. Sigh Later
  19. How about that all participated in a game that opened a new staduim? Later

  22. Thanks, Irish. And thank all of you. Later
  23. Im announcing the identity of my chosen permanent avatar today because it is the anniversary of his death. I have chosen Brian Cole. He was a rising star in the Mets minor league system, an outfielder with speed and emerging power. Brian had been named Mets minor leaguer of the year 1999 by Baseball America Almanac. Spring training had ended. He was driving home from spring training in Port St. Lucie, Fla., to Meridian, Miss., to drop off his truck. He was to fly Saturday to Binghamton, N.Y., to join the Mets' Double-A team. There was a companion in his truck. Cole's truck was hit by another vehicle near the Florida-Alabama border. His vehicle rolled over and Brian was thrown out. It was later found that he had not been wearing his seat belt. He was killed almost instantly. His companion, who had been wearing a seat belt, survived. The Mets have named a rookie award after him. I want to honor his memory this way. Later
  24. So, the Daily News editorial writer did not make a mistake- St. Johns batted first. Amazin'. Later
