Where does Jose rank in career defensive stats - putouts, assists total chances and errors for Met shortstops? I'm guessing his comp would be Bud Harrelson. Later

I never would have guessed that Mark Grudzielanek would have been leading the league in hits after opening day in any season. And a Rey Ordonez mention in an article about hitters? Amazing. Later

Thanks for the report, especially the radar gun figures. Later

Neither am I. But since I hadn't called Jeffie any names for a while .... Later

Ok, not in an executive capacity. But still, his dad owned the team. Later

Guess he was just anxious to show them what he could do. He went 3 for 3 with a dinger in his first game after promotion. Later

The A's are a bunch of guys who can't beat their own meat. And the Mets look like they're outclassed by them. Later

I hope they don't offer Bill a cigarette. The picture on one of those new packages might scare him to death. Later

Edgy DC wrote: "Speed don't slump" is a pretty solid principle and I like it, but no more so than "You can't steal first." And getting to first is a skill that can slump. Moreover, speed may not slump, but it does get hurt and it does grow old --- earlier than other skills, typically. Exactly. Your Honor, I place in evidence Luis Castillo as an example of a player signed to a long term contract with a "speed game" who had few other skills to compensate when his speed eroded quickly. Later

IGT 6/21/2011: OAK @ NYM -- Let's Get All Dillongee
MFS62 replied to G-Fafif's topic in Archived Game Threads
Gee had a 4.96 ERA in AAA last year, so I thought he might have a tough time against that AAA lineup Oakland put on the field tonight. Later -
Edgy DC wrote: Ynoa? Honestly, I never even meta! rimshot! Later

And 8 of his 20 ER (he gave up one in his start last night) were in one anomalous start..throw out that 3 2/3 inning debacle and his ERA was 1.49 in the other 13 starts with only 3 HR given up (compared to 2 in that game). You got yourself a promising lookin' kid there, Edgy. Later

Ceetar wrote: Has someone put out a worthless "Take a good hard look across the field Mets fans, this is the blueprint for your team going forward" article yet? No, but I wouldn't be surprised if one of the tabloid shills looks across the field at a guy named Jackson (pick a Jackson, any Jackson. Including Tito) and write about how the Mets didn't draft Reggie. EDIT: When I first saw Pennington in a box score, my first thought was Chad, too. Later

I adopted Edioglis Villasmil last year because of his name. viewtopic.php?f=10&t=13281 So the rest of you guys better keep your mitts off my kid. Later

You're at Citi Field When Jeter Makes History Better
MFS62 replied to G-Fafif's topic in New York Mets Talk
I sit politely. I fucking hate Jeter (and most anyone else who has a career .360 average against the Mets) and all MFYs. But I don't boo. Later -
Now you can see why I have never exactly gone overboard in my praise of Seaver. I've posted before about his insensitive comments toward the disabled. He's an asshole. Later

OK, my final attempt to brighten your days leading up to THE HIT. I'd like to see him get 2,999, then right after that game, evidence comes out that Jeter bet on baseball games. I mean real evidence - betting slips and recorded phone calls. OH, and he was placing them with Larry Jones. I'm getting all misty. Later Yes, I'm an evil old bastard.

I guess nobody uses "fie on you" any more. Later

Never heard that one before and not really sure what it means, but I like it. The adults in my family used that expression when I was a kid. I never really understood it either, but I think it means do you want more than just a good thing. Oh, and they used the singular "egg". Later
