  3. In the KTE, G-Fafif called Shane the most annoying fucker in baseball. He is the master of the understatement. Later
  4. Who is that? I always root for the team that's closest to the Northeast. Later
  5. He'll be performing some of the same functions as a reliever for the Mets as he would have as an emergency room nurse - stopping the bleeding and CPR. Later
  6. San Fran. They need hitting (d'oh) , the vegetarian thing will fit well with the fans and he will bring back memories of McCovey and Cepeda, together, in the same uniform. Later
  7. Nimmo already has more professional hits than Vernon Gholston. Later
  8. Thanks again, FK. Is that Walker the same guy who is currently playing second base for the Pirates? Catcher to infield, the old Craig Biggio trick. Later

  10. Let me guess. Paula Abdul worked on the choreography. Later
  11. The reporter needs to up his game a tad. Duda was talking about backspin when he hits it resulting in increased carry. The reporter thought he meant the backspin of the pitch. Duda sure has all the cliches down pat. Later

  13. When I looked at the box scores the other day, I noticed a guy named Hensley was pitching for the Marlins. It made me think of ex-Met Jerry Dean Hinsley. Are there any current players who evoke memories of past players when you see their names? Who are they? Later
  14. Mike Carp has become the every day first baseman for the Mariners. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/carpmi01.shtml Not doing too bad. Later
  15. Vic, FK, those studies sound like they took a lot of work. Was any consideration given to players who slipped in the draft because of signability issues or teams not wanting to pay over slot? An interesting study would be guys who were higly rated by pre-draft mavens, then slipped down, and comparing them to players drafted at their "appropriate" levels. Later
  16. With a double and two triples tonight, my kid is hitting over .410. Later
  17. It came down to the last minute. I was getting worried that he might sign with the Eagles instead. Later
  18. metsguyinmichigan wrote: Mike and Mike on ESPN today, in a rare pause from football minute, suggested that, hey maybe we should have been paying closer attention to this Thome guy! Golic has mentioned often that he roots for the Indians, where Thome was a star. And he usually pays attention to guys his size. I'm surprised he hadn't been paying more attention to him. Gee, Mike, he's big enough to be a football player. Later
  19. Frayed Knot wrote: P.S. Is there anyone who does NOT conflate Todd & Doug Jones? One was a fastballer and one was a changeup guy. But if you held a gun to my head, I couldn't tell you which was which. My guess: Mesa. Later

  22. If Pelfrey is on the Mets next year, and not considered to be the #1 -#3 starter, I'm almost ok with that. If he isn't on the Mets next year, I won't lose any sleep over it, either. Later

  24. Phil "Ochs" was an answer in yesterday's USA Today crossword puzzle. I hadn't thought about him in years, then this thread yesterday. Then the puzzle. Things come in threes. I wonder .... Later
