1. I predicted the Mets finishing second and getting the wild card. But I didn't predict the number of wins. Later
2. Looking at the offensive numbers leads me to ask, "Should Familia receive serious consideration for MVP?" The precedent is closer Willie Hernandez who won both the CY Young and MVP awards for the Tigers in the same year. Later

4. I thought this was about a new animated movie about animals engaging in a singing contest. I saw the coming attraction when I went to see another movie earlier this year. Its called Sing, and it looked like fun for the grandkids when it comes out. I couldn't cut and paste the link to the trailer. Check it out for yourselves. I don't think I'll see this one. Later
5. Edgy MD wrote: Remember how the Mets had stockpiled all that talent, but it was nothing compared to Houston's? Houston is out of it. Remember that team that beat the Mets in the World Series last year, despite trailing in each game, and actually would have lost had the games ended at a more fortuitous time? Kansas City? They're out of it, too. Remember that team, entitled by God-given right to sip form the cup of victory and dominate the civic and baseball culture? They are the Yankees, and they are eliminated. Rivals of the last 20 years, Atlanta and Philadelphia? Going home. Miami upstarts who seemed to be stealing the Mets' bacon midseason? Done like the seventh son. Talent-laden hopefuls like the White Sox, the Angels, the Pirates, each with MVP talented superstars tucked in their back pockets? They're going home. But the Mets? For the second straight year, they live to play on. Sheer poetry. Later
6. Anyone guessing the 10/2 lineup? Should be interesting for a few reasons: Duda or Loney? (or Campbell?) Does Legares play center? Which pitchers go how long after Noah? (tune up VS tryout for the post season roster) Later
7. Whoda' thunk it back in August? It was a lesson in what "team" is all about. Later
8. Retire already. Later
9. The most incompetent umpire in recent history, Angel Hernandez, was at third base last night. Does that mean he'll be behind the plate tonight? No matter where he will be stationed, I'd hate to see the game turn on one of his miscalls. Later

12. That plop you heard last night was a large turd finally being eliminated from the AL Wild Card hunt. Later
13. RIP, Phil. I don't remember much about you as a Met, but I salute your service. Later
14. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: I like TJ, and as noted above badly underestimated him. But I'd still be wary of handing him a full-time gig. I know he walked some in the minors but 3 in 100+ PAs up here, and nobody hits .340 without taking walks forever. IIRC, in his first 5 years in the majors, Roberto Clemente totaled fewer than 100 walks. His walk rate improved as his career progressed. Later
15. Texieria hits a lot of grand slams. I wonder how may of them he has hit in a major league ballpark. Those farging bastages just won't die quietly. Later
16. Zvon wrote: I just wonder if I should put it to a poll. For the record, who is your 2016 Mets Most Valuable Player? Make it a poll. And don't forget to include Walker, who kept the team going while others were slumping. It'll be interesting to see the poll results versus the Schaeffer results. Later

Frayed Knot wrote: Frayed Knot wrote: I suspect the off day tomorrow is part of the reason for the quick hook.quote] Not sure if Terry has a pitch count thing (he threw about 80) but he is cautious about letting a young pitcher go more than twice through the lineup. He has mentioned it on a few of the recent post game shows I've seen. The only one he's let go longer was Gsellman in his last start. Except that the Marlins were past the middle of the order and Lugo had already faced the big boys three times each. I'm at work, not watching the game, and didn't realize that. Thanks. So I'm scratching my head too. Later

21. That gave me a flashback. I lost a bet to an MFY fan over the Y2K World Series, so I had to write a song parody about his team. I used that song as the basis. Lyrics I remember were: You gotta' give them credit. They really won that sucker. Even the fat coward, bat tossing motherfucker. I have called him by no other name ever since. We all should. Later
22. Nymr83 wrote: the NL Wildcard game will be Wed Oct 5th. I'd rather the Cardinals. both teams hav already lined up their best pitcher, and I'd rather face Carlos Martinez. Madison Bumgarner is better AND left-handed which I think is bad for the Mets. This. Later
