  2. The NCAA has a stupid rule? I'm shocked. (SM=97) Later
  3. The lack of consistent offense and a questionable middle inning relief corps will take away several decisions from the starters. 15-8 3.10. (34 starts) Later
  4. Obligatory movie analogy- If there had been a mix-up like that with the envelopes at Don Corleone's daughter's wedding, the person who did it would be wearing cement shoes at the bottom of the river by now. Later
  5. .247- 15- 50. His back isn't all the way back. Fewer than 100 games. Later
  6. Do you think Thomas Szapucki starts off in Brooklyn or extended ST (injury rehab)? Later

  8. Any word on how badly Plawecki was injured? Later
  9. Guilty until proven innocent. .245-12-38 in 110 games interrupted by 3 stays on the DL. Later

Matt Reynolds says "Don't count me out just yet". I saw Butch play third in a game between his Binghamton team and the New Britain Red Sox AA team. He played third base and that's when I suspected that Butch was short for Butcher. He played a ground ball so badly that he kicked it all the way to the first baseman (too late to get the batter). But he sure could hit. Later
  11. He may never make it to the majors, but Tucker Tharp is one heckuva' name. Later
  12. Here's MLB.com's Mets top 30. http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2017?list=nym Click on the names and see the scouting reports. Later
  13. Still one or two years away. He'll split the season between high A and AA. But his female friend looks like she's major league ready. Later
  14. Speaking of blowhard sports talk radio hosts, its Black History Month. And not ONE of the hosts on the sports talk radio stations has even mentioned Art Rust Jr., one of the early pioneers of the genre. The current hosts should all listen to his tapes and learn how to conduct themselves on a show of that type. He was knowledgeable about all sports and never insulted his callers, their opinions nor the teams for which they rooted. He was a true gentleman. Later
  15. I thought this was a clever play on words about Lucas Duda in the series of player predictions. At least you had Who playing the proper position. Later
  16. I have Pure Baseball on my book shelf. Interesting. Later
  17. If I want to look at different rules, I'll watch slow pitch softball, thank you. Later
  18. Brought up mid year from AAA, and hits 296-10-46 playing mostly right field and some center field. Proves he can hit lefthanders since there is no healthy right handed hitter with whom to regularly platoon .(Legares is injured) Later
  19. A day with Joe West or Angel Hernandez is like a day without sunshine. Later
  20. Oh no! David Wright will be blocking David Thompson, unless some of Wright's reps will be at first base. Good job, Edgy. Later
  21. The back of the baseball card I wish was his: .295- 42- 135, MVP. Later
  22. I looked at an extension for Walker as protection for the next few years at third base, should Wilmer or another player from the organization not be a full time solution. Later
  23. TransMonk wrote: Niese's biggest problem, in my eyes, was that he never had the talent nor the mental toughness to be able to pitch through adversity and jams (whether they were caused by himself or failures of the defense). This. My fondest memory of John Niese was when I joyously cheered when I heard he was no longer a Met. Later
  24. It was a cute little movie and, despite what I had read, the singers had the voices I felt they should have had. I gave it 8 stars. It was well done and much better than I thought it would be. Choreography, original music, story and acting made a nice package that deserves its Oscar nod. Later
  25. When he played short in the minors, his arm to play that position was questioned. Then the talk came about moving him to second, which should help hide a "weak arm". But toward the end of last season, I read some reports that his arm might not be good enough for second in the majors. (can't find the link) I'm not sure if its weak or if he has Chuck Knobloch disease. I'll say he won't emerge from the minors this year until the question is answered. Later
