  1. In case you haven't been following closely, Lucas Duda has been en fuego. Later
  2. Lefty Specialist wrote: My wife asked, "So how do they blow this one?" The fact that she asked the question demonstrates her wisdom. Later
  3. Thanks to a friend who was a Pirates' fan, I rooted for the Pirates after my Brooklyn Dodgers deserted me. I was rewarded for my Buc fandom in 1960 when they beat the MFYs in the World Series. When the Mets were born, I began to root for them. But I have always had a warm spot in my heart for the Bucs. But not THAT warm. LGM! Later
  4. A Boy Named Seo wrote: Jesus Christmas, Montero. Throw some goddamn strikes. Sometimes, our children are an embarrassment. (shaking head) Later
  5. Matz: 5 runs on 5 hits in 4 innings vs Round Rock tonight; 2 walks, 4 Ks, and 2 HRs (both to the same guy - Cesar Puello!!) I always knew my kid could hit well against a major league pitcher. (Just didn't think it would happen in the minors) Later
  6. The MFYS have already postponed their game. And the relievers are hoping the Mets will so the same. Later
  7. That was the front end of a yewj double-header sweep. A seven-inning, complete-game, 3-hit, 1-0 shutout by Nimmo in the first, and a rain-shortened, six-inning, complete game, 2-hit, 5-0 (or 4-0, if you disallow the run in the top of the inning in which the bottom of the inning wasn't played) shoutout by Donovan hand in Game Two. Nimmo pitches? The way Granderson has been playing, I guess we all have Nimmo on our minds. Later
  8. Conlon threw a 3 hit shutout (7 inning variety) lowering his ERA to 3.02. Later
  9. I hate to give the Post any kind of kudos, but that headline makes that a definite Headline Contest contender this coming off season. Later
  10. Harvey, get the ball over the plate! They gave you a 7 run lead, and you're trying to give it back. I'm having a John Niese flashback. Later
  11. A migraine is only as severe as your next day's starter. Later
  12. As one would imagine, it’s rare for a player to make his major league debut without having previously played above A-ball or in a high-level international league I had always thought that pitcher Billy McCool had jumped from A ball directly to the Reds in 1961. But I just checked it out. He actually spent a short time with the Reds' AAA affiliate before joining the Reds. It was in San Diego, then a Pacific Coast League city. Later

  14. I'm still whelmed. And I still wish him luck. Later
  15. Fman99 wrote: I would love to be a shirtless drunk heckling asshole at this game. I'm sure someone will be able to skype you in. Lol! Later
  16. Rehab update: Matz and Lugo pitching, TDA catching tonight for St. Lucie. Later
  17. I found my old glove and have started to long toss. I may be able to pitch off a mound in a few weeks. Hold the fort, guys. Help is on its way! Later

  20. I didn't want to ground out. I wanted to hurl. Later
  21. Jack (the leather rocket) Leathersich is now pitching for the AAA Iowa Cubs. He pitched against Las Vegas last night. His ERA for the season is 10.29, so I doubt we'll be seeing him in the majors any time soon. Later

cooby wrote: Mr cooby wants to know if Derek Jeter's wife is pregnant, or wearing an unflattering dress? Preggers. And if they can convince her to have the labor induced, they'll schedule a promotion on that day and have her give birth on the pitcher's mound. Later
  23. themetfairy wrote: September 9th is a TBD promotion. My strong suspicion is that it will be David Wright's retirement ceremony. Shucks! I'm hoping for a Derek Jeter Iron Glove giveaway day. Later
  24. Shaking the rust out of Checchini's shortstop skills anticipating a call up makes sense. Thanks. Later
