  1. Now we know why they didn't DFA Paul Sewald, although I think a cardboard cutout would have a better chance of getting a batter out. Later

The hope is that SalivaDirect will be start rolling out to the general public within "weeks" according to Yale. I was at Yale New Haven Hospital this week and forgot to ask my doctor about the new test. He would have given me all the details. But I see see signs in every building that said they were not doing testing. I guess a lot of people were asking. Good news. Just heard on ABC TV that the Mets released a statement last night that there have been no new positive tests since the team returned from Florida. Later
  3. Now I can spend my Saturday productively - watching the Sharknado movie marathon now running on cable. Later
  4. Benjamin Grimm wrote: It's up to the individuals whether or not they want to make their diagnosis public. HIPAA makes their permission a requirement. Later
  5. Here's a terrible trio for ya'. And they're not all on FOX news. https://deadspin.com/it-s-been-a-bad-day-for-curt-schilling-and-it-s-not-eve-1844789032https://deadspin.com/it-s-been-a-bad-day-for-curt-schilling-and-it-s-not-eve-1844789032 Later
  6. =bmfc1 post_id=44327 time=1597958520 user_id=73] A player and a staff tested positive.
  7. It takes a certain kind of person to work for FOX. And they prove it each and every day. Later
  8. If you're wondering why Lugo wasn't warming up, he will be starting Thursday's game. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/mets-lugo-gets-wish-moving-rotation-replace-matz-034022718--mlb.htmlhttps://www.yahoo.com/sports/mets-lugo-gets-wish-moving-rotation-replace-matz-034022718--mlb.html Later
  9. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Clutch hitting isn't a measurable skill. That doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. If it exists, it's a personality trait. Which players can up their focus in a key situation? Which players get wobbly knees? I don't discount the notion that some players are "clutch". Yeah? Then which ones? Derek Jeter, of course. I just threw up in my mouth, and I knew you were joking. Weren't you? Later
  10. ABC reporting the MRI on Peterson's shoulder showed inflammation, no structural damage. Later
  11. Edgy MD wrote: He could, but I think they're adding a lot of high end prospects who are still way down on the totem pole, just so they can get the supervision of the top development instructors. They added Matthew Allen, and he's only thrown 10 innings outside of high school. I shuddered when he was brought up and one writer said that means they are now eligible to be traded. Nothing in the rules says that, but with Brodie, you never know about prospects. Later
  12. =kcmets post_id=44191 time=1597867004 user_id=53] I know people who would shoot someone for suggesting Jeter wasn't Mr. Clutch.
  13. So, is the non-"clutch" performance still called a choke? Or is that not politically correct any more? Over the years there have been players who I NEVER wanted to see in a game deciding situation, either at bat or in the field ("please don't hit it to him") and they never seemed to change my mind. I'm sure their performances didn't deviate much from their statistical norms in those situations either, but the memories still linger. OE: Typed while Edgy was posting. Later
  14. His performance make me think MLB is just testing for COVID-19 these days. As you said, "just sayin'." Later
  15. Edgy MD wrote: Yeah, all the pieces are there on offense. Just gots to find a way to put 'em together. As Murph used to say, "build a run". Later
  16. At some point, Oswalt is going to have to show he isn't just a "AAAA pitcher". I hope that will happen tonight. Later
  17. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I dunno. Sometimes she strikes me as perhaps being a bit deranged. Her expression makes me wonder what else she just sampled other than the beer. Later
  18. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I've read that final bids are due on August 31. Have we heard a timetable for when a decision might be made? As soon as it is sure that the check will clear? Probably as soon as the other owners vote their approval of the new owner(s). (If that hasn't already been done through the vetting process) Later
  19. This story says that Wilpon hates Cohen and it looks like the A-Rod has the inside track on the sale of the team: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2905101-report-jeff-wilpon-hates-steve-cohen-wants-alex-rodriguez-group-to-buy-metshttps://bleacherreport.com/articles/2905101-report-jeff-wilpon-hates-steve-cohen-wants-alex-rodriguez-group-to-buy-mets Later

Frayed Knot wrote: =MFS62 post_id=43987 time=1597678870 user_id=60] Since SNY is also owned by the people who own the Mets, isn't it time for the Commissioner to come knocking on the Wilpons' door with a suspension (or other penalty)? You've apparently missed the trend where sports are now driving head-first into sports gambling, not from it.
  21. Since SNY is also owned by the people who own the Mets, isn't it time for the Commissioner to come knocking on the Wilpons' door with a suspension (or other penalty)? Owners have not been immune from the no association with gambling rules since MFY owner Del Webb was in a similar loose relationship in the Sahara Casino in Las Vegas. Later
  22. Frayed Knot wrote: Oh and look at that ... another infield hit!! A catcher who can run (Realmuto). It is as unusual as a new life form to Mets fans. Later
  23. He has been added to the Mets 60 man player pool, so he could be called up this crazy season. Later
  24. =kcmets post_id=43869 time=1597496429 user_id=53] Speaking of five deep, is 5 HR the over/under for Stevarino tonight?
  25. How about a steel cage match to determine the winner? Or a joust? Later
