    After getting rained out yesterday, Calvin started today's first game of the double header for St. Lucie. He was the losing pitcher 3-1. His numbers: 3 IP (his longest stint this year),2 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4K) His streak, of not giving up more than 2 hits in any start, continues. Later

    None of the pitchers should hope there will be balls hit to the outfield. Not too much range out there (now) on either side, but the Miracles' outfield defense seems a bit better. Later

    Roster eligibility question. I believe the current rules say if you option a player you cannot bring him back for ten days. (Injury exceptions are in there, too) But if they send a player down this week, can he be brought back up once the roster expands on Sept1? Later

    It may be the difference in scouting approach. Some teams look at a young player, see room for improvement and have a high ceiling. Some scouts look at a player who is mostly developed and has a high floor. If the team can develop that player beyond that, even better. The Brave seem to find, and then develop, players in that second category. The fact that they seem to find many of them in Georgia makes me wonder if other teams are scouting players there. (Yes, Jay Payton went to Georgia Tech, but he was obvious - I think he led the NCAA in batting) Later

    I just read that 2023 will be the first year that every major league team will play against every other major league team. Should be interesting. Later
