  1. The last FOUR hitters in the lineup are under the Mendoza Line. We need some replacement players for our replacement players. If I want to see some scoring action, they make me want to watch a soccer match. Later
  2. SNY reporting that Carlos Carrasco has been put on waivers by the NY Mets. https://sny.tv/articles/mets-place-rhp-carlos-carrasco-on-waivers-reports?fbclid=IwAR3UUYIDWkpC3CWz47iBtqhV3TPd66_VU1af5Fr4ghPyXOuhmGAsI6V_n5Yhttps://sny.tv/articles/mets-place-rhp-carlos-carrasco-on-waivers-reports?fbclid=IwAR3UUYIDWkpC3CWz47iBtqhV3TPd66_VU1af5Fr4ghPyXOuhmGAsI6V_n5Y I've been waiting to use that thread title all year. 3. Giolito may have some value. Later
  4. I don't know how it factors into the current situation, but I recall on those 8 man staffs, the starters would throw in he bullpen two days after their start to "get loose". And if needed, they would pitch in relief that day. IIRC, pitchers did that several times in the 50's and 60s. (Mel Stottlemyre even got a save and Juan Marichal got a save against the Mets) I don't know if today's pitchers have the same off- start throwing schedule, but if they came into some games it might ease the strain on the bullpen. Edgy MD wrote: I think plenty should be available for the next day, without adhering to these hard and fast rules they seem to be adhering to regarding pacing relievers deployments across the season. The three most used relievers are currently around 50 G and 50 IP each, so they're on track for the numbers you mentioned above. But do they really track warmups/ not used numbers? I hadn't seen those anywhere. Later
  6. I was thinking a parody of "Taking A Chance on Love", but I couldn't get the rhyming to work. Later
  7. Seager is leading the league in BA - .341 Lindor is gaining ground for shortstop on the NL All-star team. Later
  8. Nahhh. It's just a racket. Later
  9. I guess he didn't create much off an impression. Later
  10. Ya got me. I knew Gene Woodling never played for the Texas Rangers. But he did play for the Washington Senators. Good get. OE: I posted this before I scrolled down to the card near the bottom. And, if this is just players, Gil Hodges never played for Washington. He just managed them. Later
  11. Nice statement game by Peterson. Later
  12. Seven innings. 100+ pitches. How much longer? Later
  13. =metirish post_id=136049 time=1693151992 user_id=72] Why a noon start ?
  14. Vientos played a rehab game last night. He was recalled along with Jeff Brigham. Adam Kolarek and Abraham Almonte have been designated for assignment. Later
  15. And their best two (that's relative) relievers were used. Perish the thought that they'll be in a close game, maybe even with a, dare I say it, lead today? They each pitched a scoreless inning. Will they be able to repeat it? Carrasco is a bullpen burner. He's got to go. Later

  17. In the James Bond book Moonraker, Bond wins a high stakes bridge game with a grand slam. The villain rummages through the cards of his lost game, hoping against hope to find a winner. Every time I see there has been an addition to this thread I race here, hoping against hope, to find out that the Mets have acquired a player who will provide the spark they need. Alas, the despair continues. But I will never give up that hope. Later
  18. For a brief, shining moment (Camelot theme playing in the background) Roy Staiger was my favorite Met. I thought he would be the answer to our perpetual third base problem. Sigh Later
  19. 2-0 Angels Ohtani with a double, Drury and Moustakas with the RBI. Mets striking out in bunches. Later
  20. Ohtani walked in is first at bat. Later
  21. Patrick Sandoval 6-10 4.08 Kodai Senga 10-6 3.19 Ohtani will bat second for L.A. I wonder if he has faced Senga before tonight and what the results were. Game time 7:10 WPIX will carry the game. Later
  22. Is it wishful thinking putting Ohtani in there? Did I miss Leroy Stanton? Later
  23. Don't worry. We're riveted by this race to embarrassment. Later
  24. Tonight, Aaron Judge is creating carnage - he has 3 HR and 6 RBI. And the MFYs are winning in the 9th. Later
