  1. Former MLB pitcher Greg Swindell and his wife Sarah are asking for help finding their missing daughter. Swindell and his wife Sarah said their daughter — a mother of three — was last seen with a "violent" ex-boyfriend on Thursday, Aug. 22. https://www.yahoo.com/news/former-mlb-pitcher-greg-swindell-172843973.htmlhttps://www.yahoo.com/news/former-mlb-pitcher-greg-swindell-172843973.html I started this thread to follow the story. Mods, please move this to the non-baseball forum if you feel that is appropriate. Later
  2. Sean Manaea 9-5 3.48 Eduardo Rodriguez 2-0 3.94 Game time 9:40 EDT Later
  3. 20people lost their jobs. Later
  4. Catcher Danny Jansen, made baseball history today by becoming the first major leaguer to play for both teams in the same game. The unusual feat became possible after the June 26 game between the Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays was suspended by rain. Jansen played for Toronto at the time but was then traded to Boston on July 27. He got a hit today for Boston. Later
  5. IIIRC earlier in the season, Vientos had hit a home run (game winner?) and he sat him the next day. He also sat McSquirrel after a multi-hit day when it looked like he was coming out of his early season funk. Can't be more specific than that. Even if the facts are blurry, it is my impression that he did it more than once to more than two players and has been discussed in prior thread(s). Later
  6. He's done two of my pet peeves - pulling pitchers too early and "resting" a player who has had a few hot games in a row. Other managers do that lately. (new numbers driven style?) But overall, he's done an ok job with a bench and bullpen that early in the year looked like they were built by Boeing. Later
  7. I think we can lose the purple stuff. Later
  8. We have two Seaver bobble head dolls.(in original unopened packages) After reading the story about the Ruth jersey, my wife decided to check out the bh dolls. She saw the price is $399 each. Ya never know. Later
  9. So, I guess, this writing in purple is going to be a thing? Later

  13. Really shuffling the defense, with Alvarez in center again. Later
  14. Frayed Knot wrote: Yanx won this afternoon vs Cleveland. Cole and relievers combined for a one-hitter. But the bigger news is that Judge HR'd again. That's four for the three game series. (Yanx took 2/3) So he's now at 48 for the season and on pace for 61 (60.75 if you want to quibble). He leads all the AL in WAR, OBA, SLG, OPS (duh!), Total Bases, HRs (by 11), RBIs (by 17) and extra base hits. He's hitting .334, second (12 pts) behind Bobby Witt. Is also second in walks (3 behind Soto) and first in intentional walks (17). He's also a pretty good outfielder and has six stolen bases without getting caught. YAbbutt he ignored the NY Little Leaguers. https://apnews.com/article/yankees-aaron-judge-little-league-staten-island-2ed832230bc420cffed0b068902874bdhttps://apnews.com/article/yankees-aaron-judge-little-league-staten-island-2ed832230bc420cffed0b068902874bd And the MFYs are doing backflips to defend him. 15. =G-Fafif post_id=167244 time=1724339019 user_id=55] In baseball history, only four shortstops finished their first 10 years with more Baseball-Reference wins above replacement (WAR) than Lindor's 48.0: Arky Vaughan, Alex Rodriguez, Cal Ripken Jr. and Pee Wee Reese.
  16. Brandon got his head handed to him in his no-decision start last night. His numbers: 5.0IP 9H 6R 6ER 0BB 0K 3HR his AAA ERA rose to 9.24 He's got some learning to do. Later
  17. If "OMG" has become the players' slogan of the year, then "I love this shit" should become the fans' slogan. Later
