Quintana has thrown almost 50 pitches in two innings? I'm guessing we'll see Butto tonight. Later

He has Terrence Long's goatee and eyebrows (using his baseball- reference picture as reference). https://www.baseball-reference.com/req/202408150/images/headshots/a/a6019b8a_sabr.jpg> But no indication if they're related. Later

He has been used at St. Lucie as both a DH and a centerfielder. I'd want to see him on defense as much as possible to determine his best position. Later

Clayton Kershaw left his start in the second inning due to a bone spur; https://www.yahoo.com/sports/dodgers-manager-says-clayton-kershaw-left-early-due-to-bone-spur-could-see-il-time-141209484.htmlhttps://www.yahoo.com/sports/dodgers-manager-says-clayton-kershaw-left-early-due-to-bone-spur-could-see-il-time-141209484.html I guess that qualifies him to run for President one day. I was trying to be positive. Later

I hope he plays well enough to regain that ranking in the year end polls. It feels good to have two guys good enough to be contending for that position. Later

The Mets' #1 prospect Jett Williams has been activated and will join the Binghamton team. I hope he plays when I'm there. Later

The White Sox' season/streak deserves its own thread

I thought Paul Goldschmidt was the only Diamondback authorized to torment the Mets like that. Later

And Rodon is a lefty pitcher. He must have a really terrible move to first. Later

Prediction thread: ManaeaQuintanaSeverino
MFS62 replied to Benjamin Grimm's topic in New York Mets Talk
I want Manaea, I'm still not sure about Severino and I definitely don't want Quintana. So I picked Manaea only. Later -
I think it should be an audition for a larger role next year. Ritter could play third if Vientos has to move over to first next year. And I don't want a one-trick pony. I'd prefer someone who can hit, not just run or play defense. Those two roster spaces are valuable. They should be someone with multiple skills, IMO. Later

It also depends on lineup structure. Some players are so slow they can't score from second on a single. You would still have a hit with RISP but haven't produced a run. You don't want those slow guys leading off ahead of your better, and faster, hitters. They clog the basepaths. The numbers can be tricky. Later

I don't think Acuna or Gilbert are ready. Gilbert has only had about 100 at bats after spending most of the year on IL and is hitting under the Mendoza line. If they're going to add a non-roster player, I'd like to see them call up Luke Ritter. He has been in the organization since 2019, working his way up through the organization. He's hitting .257 with 24 HR and 82 RBI at Syracuse and can play the corner infield and outfield positions. In the good old days when they could have 40 players in September, his call up would have been a no brainer (if only to reward him for years of minor league service). Later

From SNY: During yesterday's Cubs-Pirates game, Chicago SP Justin Steele was given the chance to wash his hands after umpires felt his hands were too sticky. Two months ago, with Edwin DÃaz on the mound in Chicago, the Mets' closer was not given a chance to wash his hands after umpires felt his hands was too sticky. Vic Carapazza and Adam Hamari are the common thread between the two instances as they were on the crew for both of these games. Mets fans should be pissed, and bombard the League office with emails and phone calls. Later

Brandon started tonight and was cruising along - no hits in 4 innings. Then the roof caved in. His line for the night: 4.2IP 4H 4R 4ER 1BB 5K 1HR. His AAA ERA now stands at 8.83. Later
