  3. Watching the Mets last night reminded me of the line in the movie Blazing Saddles, "Are we doing anything meaningful here , or are we just j--king off?" Later
  4. We're seeing the emergence of a truly generational talent. And Ohtani, too. Later
  5. When a team gets shut out in the previous game, adding Harrison Bader to the lineup us the first name I think about to jump start the offense. (SM = 9.4) I sang My Girl with the Temptations. (true story) Later
  6. Edgy MD wrote: Rodriguez, Ortíz, and Jeter wearing gloves and looking like they're out there trying to burgle something. It's all so awkward, and you know Jeter has some understanding with the network that he's not sitting next to A-Rod. He's still standing between A-Rod and shortstop. Later
  7. It should come as no surprise that owner Jerry Reinsdorf (88 yrs old) is thinking of selling the team: https://www.yahoo.com/sports/white-sox-owner-jerry-reinsdorf-reportedly-in-discussions-about-selling-team-after-historically-bad-season-214446200.htmlhttps://www.yahoo.com/sports/white-sox-owner-jerry-reinsdorf-reportedly-in-discussions-about-selling-team-after-historically-bad-season-214446200.html He's no Joan Payson who didn't let a little thing like a loss record make her think of selling. 14. Harrison Bader game here with the reputation of being a "gold glove class" defender. He wasn't nominated, so I looked him up in baseball ref-com. He only put up .2 DWAR this year. Even though he wasn't nominated, I'm surprised it wasn't more. Later

  17. Just saw something I didn't realize about the new "3 batter minimum" relief pitching rule. from the rule book: In an effort to reduce the number of pitching changes and, in turn, cut down the average time per game, MLB instituted a rule change that requires pitchers to either face a minimum of three batters in an appearance or pitch to the end of a half-inning, with exceptions for injuries and illnesses. If a pitcher faces one batter to end an inning, he may be removed, but if he is brought back for a second inning, he must still face two more batters for a total of three. So, if a reliever pitches to one batter to end an inning, and starts the next inning, if he gets out the first batter and then the mgr wants to use a lefty/lefty matchup, he can't. The reliever must pitch to that second batter in the inning. Didn't know that. Later
  18. We could always win another World Series, but there may never be another election if he wins. Kamala Later
  19. I guess Severino must be one of those picks when the voters name him based on past rep and didn't really watch him much this year. I don't recall him making any newsreel highlight plays that might have been seen around the country. But "best fielding pitcher" is one of those things that follow a player around. Some winners keep getting it for years (e.g.- Harvey Haddix, Jim Kaat, Greg Maddux). As for Lindor, a shonda. Later
