  5. I have that "sports fan" disorder about Martinez. He looks like he doesn't care. I realize an even temperament is an advantage over a long season but it makes me madder to see him swing and miss so badly. He looks like shit is what I'm saying
  6. Peterson's dad was a horse trainer who died of an accidental overdose when David was a kid. Young David also dealt with a broken leg that threatened his career before it started. https://www.mlb.com/news/david-peterson-s-path-to-metshttps://www.mlb.com/news/david-peterson-s-path-to-mets
  7. The Youngs are easy to tell apart. Danny's got a distinctive delivery and like Alonso and Bader he's a Gator. Alex Young has no brand but he's also not a key member of the team like Peterson. Megill has a brand too. He's got a social media mom and brother in the big leagues. Everyone knows that. Wait was Peterson the one who's family was involved in horse training?
  8. =Centerfield post_id=170994 time=1726794206 user_id=65] I don't know the last time I've seen a hitter as lost as JD. This is beyond a slump.
  9. It's almost like he's "crafty," but he's too big, too inexperienced, and too young to be thought of that way
  10. More Peterson Facts --Plays golf with McNeil --Had shaggy hair in the minors This guy needs to make a live album or something
  11. Megill is also fatter and has worse facial hair. I looked up Peterson on social media and can report his wifey Alex gave birth to their second kid, Josephine, recently. They also have a two year old boy. They appear to live in Long Island City.
  12. Gotcha! Not those kinds of memories. I'm talking about memories you may have of him until now. The reason is, David Peterson has no brand, does he? For a first-round pick I don't recall there being a lot of hype around him. He arrived just as Tim Peterson left and I briefly thought they were the same guy. Even going into this year don't know if anyone thought of Peterson as anything more than a lefthanded Megill. I had to look up where Peterson was born (Denver) and where he went to school (Oregon) cuz it all had escaped me. He needs a nickname or a car dealership pitchman job or something

Game threads are basically garbage anyway As a person who can't watch the games I would appreciate it if pet nicknames were explained (who is Zimmo?) and also a little more detail when something happens, besides ‘Blerp' or ‘Wowee' or the like. Reading through them can sometimes be less than helpful though honestly they also read like a bunch of people watching a game together and making comments, sure. Just my two cents since we're all grouchy anyway Zimmo refers to a remark from Fred Wilpon. It was post-Madoff and he had retreated from the press but couldn't resist lying about how well the Wilpons were doing financially, saying they were getting rich because the real estate market was "Zimmo!" I didn't mean to impugn all game threads. For epic games with many participating they can be fun in the moment (you never know when they are though). But the nature of it, texting and watching at the same time, doesn't leave much to discussion and instead a lot of two-word remarks.
