  1. Well, most people think Kay won't be a stud, just a mid-rotation guy at best, not that's anything to sneeze at. And that requires him to still develop some offspeed stuff. Richardson is the currency in this deal but he's 18 and anything can happen.
  2. Gives us some options. Gives us a very good rotation.
  3. Pitching prospects are pitching prospects. I just don't know why they are doing this

  5. Bill may be late arriving today now that Burly Bashlor is screwing this up
  6. Edgy MD wrote: The Mets with a chance tonight to catch and pass their fourth team in the overall standings in about a week. Yikes. That they failed to do that 3 days ago sparked my I Give Up moment, now I'm thinking maybe I prematurely evacuated. Go SHaMs!!!
  7. Matz is only like 80 pitches. He owes us a complete game
  8. I think it's possible we caused the Mets to play so badly this year by not talking about their wives enough. Tatiana McNeil, research scientist, all over the news this morning as hubby tries to get her to agree to a puppy adoption
  9. I confess I didn't vote in this poll because the order of guys who get traded isn't all that important and much depends on stuff that can't be predicted inasmuch as it takes 2 to make a deal. I'm just using this as an all-purpose speculation thread
  10. Interesting. Zack Wheels is 54
  11. Sat behind 3rd base close to the field (with Gfafif, iirc) in a Rockies-Mets game once and between innings warming up you could hear Tulos throws whizzing to first base, and you could tell he got off on the fact that we could hear them
  12. Buster Olney writes that teams are getting the impression Mets will trade Syndy. If I wasn't absolutely convinced they'd somehow screw this up I'd say "go for it." I like Syndy as much as the next guy, maybe more, but a real team in the same situation would also be considering the same thing, and would probably do it. Meanwhile, Ken sez: I don't hate this idea one bit, except for the near certainty they'll screw it up
  13. He came in to protect a 4 run lead and let the first guy he faced smash a single off his foot
  14. Oh course the day after I publicly give up on the SHaMs they give deGrom a 4-run lead
  15. They just haven't solved their problems, and the organization's arrogant overconfidence and resulting lack of preparation is evident all over.
  16. July 24. I gave up.
  17. I had such hopes for the SHaMs
  18. I just assume most athletes support the party of tax cuts for the Ulta rich
  19. Not for nothing but this could be a Big Game, inasmuch as having additional Big Games is dependent on another W tonight. Get it and we'll capture SD in the standings. We're actually on the verge of 2 additional captures, being a half-game behind Cincy and 1 behind Colorado so if things break right we can knock some 18 net-games back in the WC tonight. Then look ahead. So maybe it is a Big Game. We have the bump advantage as Syndy opposes RHP Dinelson Lamet (0-2, 5.14) who should really be working for us.
  20. Tuesday Night Mets Club now 5-1 this year. Was a nice effort to win a starting pitching mismatch even if the offense wasn't much beyond Cano who looks like a different guy when he's right. Terrific day in the field for Rosie. A Twitter post I saw on the way to the game reminded me it was the 20th anniversary of the Sammy Sosa Merengue Night game, which the Tuesday Night Mets Club was also at, before they were known for their Tuesday Night antics. That night we'd intended to buy Tix at the gate but it was a sellout. While I was trying to scalp my brother ran into a cousin who was there working on a film crew shooting the Woody Allen flick Small Time Crooks. He got us in free to the field level behind the Mets dugout as we became "extras" in the shoot, which turned into 3 seconds of Sosa's first inning HR off Yoshi. Came back and won, dammit
