  1. HBP in the face, jeezus
  2. Crazy ass 3 way moves Bauer to Reds, Puig and about 6 Padres to the Indians, and some guy to SD. Puig brawled tonight in Cincinnati
  3. Lugo is SHaMtastic. Nice pick by Alonso too
  4. Squeaky Bum Time, as our Irish American friend would describe it
  5. And that'll do it for Syndy. Perhaps...forever!
  6. That was a big K there to get Garcia
  7. Good Joel Sherman column on the Mets and their seeming weird approach to this and every deadline: https://nypost.com/2019/07/30/understanding-the-wilpon-model-and-mets-trade-deadline-approach/https://nypost.com/2019/07/30/understanding-the-wilpon-model-and-mets-trade-deadline-approach/ One reason why the "sustained success" thing continually eludes them. No vision, no patience, just continual, contemporaneous pivots. Really the only time in the Wilpon Era they ever really got their hands dirty on a real rebuild was when Sandy was thrust upon them by the lenders -- and there was some trouble truly committing to that (the Wright extension). Worth noting he got them to a world series and as soon as the Pons were out of hot water financially they moved to crush him.
  8. Seeing as we're trading one, not a bad ask.
  9. A Boy Named Seo wrote: I'd rather be the team that trades away the closer for a haul than the team that trades for one. If the price is right, see ya, Sugar. Then rebuild the pen next year on other just-as-volatile, cheaper FA options. Yep
  10. THEY WANT TO TRY A "BULLPEN" GAME TO SEE IF ITS THE KIND IF THING THE METS WOULD LIKE TO DO I THINK
  11. Ervin Santana pulled from today's scheduled start for AAA
  12. I mentioned this in the other thread, but when he was good, he was good getting hard swingers to get themselves out. A greasy-haired ornery lefty slowballer in the tradition of, if not in the class of, Bob Ojeda
  13. One of my Minneapolis-based colleagues is terrified the Twins will trade Bryon Buxton for Syndergaard
  14. I know how long the odds are but if the Mets just said screw it, we're going for it with a 5 of deGrom, Syndergaard, Wheeler, Stroman and Matz ball-out for the rest of the season I'd get behind that, and then offer Wheeler a qualifying deal. If they want to replenish the farm system go ahead and trade Diaz. This isn't a bankable idea but a million cranebucks says a return to the closer role for Fammy results in some improvement
  15. This card is from the 2nd series. (Collect 'em all) https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48410650882_3561e519f7_z.jpg> What's on the backs of these cards?
  16. I didn't think a crafty old lefty is a bad thing to have. In fact, every good team should have one. Sucking for the first 3 months of his Met return really hurt the team. A decent contributor ever since even if he turned out to be an asshole.
  17. Yabbut for a 26-year-old AA catcher hitting .190? In your div?
  18. Not 4 nothing but Vargas was pretty reliable this season and giving him to the ailing Phils ain't gonna help us reel them in I was Tuesday's game where he carved up Tatis Jr. like it was child's play
  19. Bossart looks like he sucks with the old ash but has a good defensive rep. A UPenn grad
  20. I think the SHaMs have .500 in 'em. Jeez they can be there by the weekend if they TCB this week.
  21. Borrowing Lefty's remark from the Stroman discussion for a rumor thread. Buster this morning suggests Red Sox are willing to pay up for Diaz. Previous speculation links Wheeler and Diaz in a deal together to replenish prospect well. That to me makes sense, though you know what would be even cooler? Signing Wheeler to an extension NOW!!!! and just trading Matz or Vargas. Either way Olney sez 3B slugger Bobby Dalbec or 1B/3B Triston Casas (Boston's No. 2 and 1 prospects, respectively) could go. Dalbec is a RHH high-whiff slugger with a strong arm (sounds like Frazier); Casas is a lanky LHH with more classic on-base skills but perhaps a 1B. Sounds like San Diego signaling Mets' ask for Syndy is too high and let them miss out if so, and if Manual Margot (usta be a hot prospect) is the MLB talent we might pass. In fact let's not trade Syndy at all.
