I guess it makes the list of shitpiles the Mets have stepped in this year, but pretty low. I agree, especially since its not an uncommon sentiment among athletes. If an ex-Met had said the same thing (Strawberry might be an apt comparison especially since he still thinks of himself as bleeding orange and blue), the tenor would be more "how can we facilitate his return/underscores how dumb it was that he's no longer here" instead of "way to backstab your current organization, teammates, manager and fanbase!"

  3. Cespedes suggesting that he'd like to end his big league career where it began is setting off a social media shit storm.

  9. Edgy MD wrote: I wonder how many minor league careers come to an end like that when the player crosses paths with a future star who is just playing a different game than they are. I remember meeting a former minor leaguer who was coming up through the White Sox system as a second baseman, a year ahead of Willie Randolph. Once he made the mistake of asking a team executive where he stood in the organization, and the guy honestly answered, "Well, we really like this kid Randolph." He said he told the executive, "Randolph? That guy couldn't carry my glove." He was a year ahead of Willie and since Little League, he'd been able to look down on the younger players while he was moving up ahead of them. But that all stops at the bigs, where nobody moves up. And when he hit major league camp the same year as Randolph, he knew it was, in fact, him who couldn't carry Randolph's glove. You mean Pittsburgh of course?

  15. Frayed Knot wrote: Attendance woes at Yanqui Stadium The LOL here isn't at the Yanx for drawing fewer people as the article talks about various aspects of drawing fans in today's game not unique to the them specifically. No, the real LOL is for those Yanx fans forever talking about how much better they liked the mid-90s team and their home-grown 'core four' as compared to than the FA-heavy team of the early 21st century. But the problem with that claim is that the 2000's teams drew about double what the mid & late '90s teams did. And now that they've got what they were clamoring for, a younger, more home-grown, AND winning squad, they're not showing up as much. The real secret here is that they secretly liked ARod and Clemens even if they were reluctant to say so out loud Cue the "Area around YS is a dangerous war zone" articles and "never again will I go there" horror stories* on any mass audience platform you can think off. *My favorite is still an early 1990s call from a "friend" of the "artist" behind the Louisville Slugger bat (smokestack) who claimed that his friend saw a group of people that he thought were admiring it, but it turned out to be a murder victim chained to it.
  16. Edgy MD wrote: I tried to get Mister for a party nine or 10 years back. The date didn't work out because the Mets were in town. "So, there's only one costume?" I naïvely asked. "There's only one Mister Met," I was firmly told. I felt simultaneously taken to school and delighted. Delighted that the organization cared about risk management and quality control in exactly the department where they should care. Or did. Yeah, that ended after 2015 season apparently.
  17. Ceetar wrote: Meh, it breaks the fourth wall for a moment while everyone gets their yuks in, and then it's business as usual. I mean, it's not like people stop taking their children to sesame place because an Elmo in Times Square sexually assaulted everyone woman that walked by. You would have to be an utter mark if you think any of the characters in Times Square are licenced by the property owners. So that being said, it would be a big deal if the Elmo at Seasme Place did sexually assault every woman who walked by. If you are an employee, you kind of should have some decorum when it comes to dealing with idiot customers. I mean if an usher, vendor or security personnel did that, you'd probably agree with it being handled by the company in the same manner, right?
  18. Ceetar has been spotted on Facebook as recently as yesterday. Mets Fantasty Cards on FB celebrated Willie's Mays' birthday on May 6th, but I haven't seen Z post since May 3rd.
  19. I watched the end as well. Also listened a bit to Jawn and Suzyn take turns blowing Alex Bregmann of the Astros for wearing No. 2. Did they assume it was for Jeter, or did they have evidence? I mean I had assumed Syndergaard's choosing #34 was for fellow Texan Nolan Ryan when pairing up photos for social media countdowns, but it was for Roy Halladay. So it would be funny if Bregmann chose it for non MFY reasons, or was just assigned it. 22. To be honest, I want to know how the rumor that Harvey being the placer of the dildo being the reason for the suspension got started. That seemed to have short, fat and hairy legs for an absolutely false (being the reason for suspension, not Harvey putting it in the locker) rumor.
  23. Centerfield wrote: themetfairy wrote: But has anyone fessed up to putting the dildo in Plawecki's locker? Or will that forever haunt us as an unexplained mystery? Has anyone ever considered that it might just have been Plawecki's dildo? I forget where it was, but Plawecki confirmed that it was left there as a prank.

[fimg=500]https://i.ytimg.com/vi/Dqi6mlkaars/maxresdefault.jpg[/fimg] Tina likes animals, animal rights, their daughter Tina, and Bernie Brewer. Wait 'til she meets Mr. Met. Considering the Syndergaard War, which actually does sound like a comic book thing, Mr. Met could use some friends on the team!
  25. Chance that he is a one game Met? Very strong! Though I doubt he'll challenge Greg's picks for most insignificant one based on the reasoning behond hos Met appearance.
