  1. Half of that $30M is deferred to 2027 if Snell exercises the option. Doesn't seem like a big impediment.
  2. Also probably good enough to play every day, as it's a bit unclear as to when or if Marte returns.

  4. Frayed Knot wrote: So instead of opting out of the '26 season Senga would not be “opting out of the ‘26 season.” He is signed through 2027. He would earn the right to become a free agent after 2025 if he pitches 400 innings in 2023-25 (highly unlikely now, as discussed). Separately (and not applicable at this time), the Mets obtain a team option for 2028 if Senga has Tommy John surgery or is on the injured list for 130+ days with a right elbow injury.
  5. The Hot Corner wrote: Butto has been very good in the pen, but I'm not sure I want to trust Megill in a tight spot. With Nunez out, we need all the quality arms we can get in the bullpen. Hopefully, we can acquire a quality starter before the deadline. If not, possibly another bullpen pitcher to take Butto's place. No matter how good Butto has been in the bullpen, he would have a lot more value as a starter. He had 7 starts last year and another 7 this year and looked quite good. Megill now has 61 starts in the majors and has had more than ample opportunities. He is not a good option to keep starting games. Maybe it's not a strict role swap per se, but with Senga and Scott out, Butto should certainly be starting over Megill.
  6. Seems like Megill and Butto's roles should be swapped.
  7. Frayed Knot wrote: Look at the silver lining Senga would have earned an opt-out of his contract after 2025 had he pitched 400 innings in 2023-2035 combined. Not going to happen now if he's out for the year.

  9. As a local and a frequent attendee, moving up weeknight games is something I strongly disfavor. But maybe the fans in the suburbs feel otherwise?
  10. Got an interesting survey from the Mets regarding game times for Monday-Thursday and separately for Friday game times in 2025. Was asked to rank preferences among 6:00, 6:30, 6:40, 7:00, and 7:40. It will be interesting to see what data they get. The all-afternoon Saturday schedule this year was reportedly in response overwhelming fan feedback that earlier game times on Saturday were preferred. (I'm not so sure there would be interest in starting the weeknight games earlier).
  11. We need to lo-key get some outfielders who can hit (note: this does not include Stewart, Gamel, or Bradley Jr.).

  14. I also would leave Diaz in for a second inning.
  15. Why is Nimmo not pinch hitting here?

  21. Alvarez has to hit for Taylor here, right? Unless Alvarez is hurt?
  22. Needed that tying run to score there.
  23. The only effective way to deal with trolls is to limit one's response to reminding others not to engage with trolls.
  24. Edgy MD wrote: Also, don't trade anybody. Just go out and whoop the Marlins. In the next 35 games (through July 22) the Mets have only two games against a team that currently has a winning record (Yankees). If they can go 22-13 (or better) in those next 35 games, then selling might be off the table. That would bring them right up to .500. 21-10 since London. Nicely on pace for keeping selling “off the table.”
  25. I wish there was a feature that if you had a post ignored, it wouldn't show up in quoted text.
