  1. =ashie62 post_id=176041 time=1729078936 user_id=90] Harvey and Cespedes will be tossing eightballs
  2. Bad job by Cleveland, but still not as bad as Luis Castillo.
  3. https://x.com/AnthonyDiComo/status/1846314911858655446 Damn, great lineup, traversing the generations Good to see we've all put the wild boar incident behind us. Raises the question of who would be left for potential WS games. I'd offer one to Ray Knight. Mike and David are obvious choices but if there was a desire for championship mojo, there's Koosman, and, umm, Ronnie?

Whether McNubby is an upgrade is an open question. Not sure McNeil is an upgrade over Nimmo. But he's probably an upgrade over Marte?
  5. Maybe bunt it at Freeman for a hit?
  6. Foot on the gas please. More runs needed.
  7. Dodgers: S. Ohtani DH M. Betts RF T. Hernandez LF F. Freeman 1B W. Smith C T. Edman SS M. Muncy 3B E. Hernandez 2B A. Pages CF
  8. Same lineup for the Mets as yesterday. F. Lindor SS M. Vientos 3B B. Nimmo LF P. Alonso 1B S. Marte RF J. Winker DH J. Iglesias 2B T. Taylor CF F. Alvarez C
  9. =ashie62 post_id=175689 time=1728922385 user_id=90]Just a hunch, Iglesias is starting to feel chilly
  10. Edgy MD wrote: You can't hang that one just on Senga of course, but he and Al Leiter and Tom Glavine can start a club together for Mets with misbegotten post-season starts. Trachsel was the disastrous start in 2006. Glavine was…ok, not great in Game 5…but it was Trachsel who really shit the bed.

  14. Game 4, Thursday 10/17, 8:08 PM Game 5, Friday 10/18, 5:08 PM Game 6, Sunday 10/20, 8:08 PM Game 7, Monday 10/21, 8:08 PM
  15. If a subway series happens, it happens. But we don't root for the Yankees here.
  16. The both-LCS-finish at 5 games or under is a pretty rare occurrence, however. Since the LCS was expanded to a 7 game series in 1985, there have only 5 instances in which both LCS finished in 5 games or fewer: 1989, 2001, 2002, 2014, 2022.
  17. Including a 5-3* record at Dodger Stadium. Let's take both so the Mets can win the pennant at home. *5-2 if not for egregious umpire error.

  19. Dodgers win. Game 1 Sunday in LA at 8:15 PM.
  20. They will need 3 starters from the free agent market to accompany Senga and Peterson (and no, Megill and Blackburn should not be options). Agree that signing Soto and retaining Alonso makes CF a low priority, particularly with Taylor under team control. I'd also retain Bader on similar terms as this year if he wants to come back.
  21. I like the extra flexibility that carrying both McNeil and Acuna brings: -If Acuna or Bader is brought in for defense and their spot comes up again late or in extra innings, can hit for either with McNeil -Could put Vientos at DH (McNeil at second) -Could even put Lindor at DH if his back was acting up (Iglesias at short, McNeil at second) -Can hit for Taylor or Marte if a lefty matchup desired late. I doubt Jeff starts over Iglesias but there's a lot of possibilities with him on the roster.
  22. The 2022 LCS times suggest that Game 4 would be an evening game and Game 5 possibly a day game. In 2022, the LCS matchups were PHI vs SD and NYY vs HOU; with the NL series starting a day earlier and on the West Coast — a close analog to what we get here. NLCS Game 4, in Philadelphia, had a 7:45 PM Eastern start time, while Houston at Yankees got the early slot with a 5:07 start time. NLCS Game 5, in Philadelphia, had a 2:37 PM Eastern start, with Houston at Yankees starting at 8:30.
  23. Benjamin Grimm wrote: And he's past due to be named the captain of the team. Hopefully it happens before or during spring training next year. Two thoughts: 1. Why? The idea that a team needs a “captain” seems to be entirely a fan- or media-driven issue. If the players want to do it themselves, ok. Why do we care? 2. Even setting all that aside, why would Lindor necessarily be that person rather than, say, longest-tenured Met Brandon Nimmo?
