Also of note is the Heath Bell has been temporarily recalled and according to Howie is "on his way to the park."
-
Important note: Alay Soler wearing # 59 (rather than the listed 43).
-
Cole Hamels, originally scheduled to start for Philly tonight was DLed with a strained shoulder. Phillies recalled a reliever but it's not clear if he'll make it to the game tonight so they may also be down a reliever.
-
Nady available to pinch-hit. Nice to see Woodward, the forgotten man, earn a start with his big hit last night.
-
That's what I thought too, but the source was the Mets press notes from MLB.com for today's game. Transaction listed for May 21.
-
Bartolome Fortunato has been released. Not to, you know, beat the dead horse here, but he was the other pitcher acquired in the deal that brought us Victor Zambrano. Looking like the book might be closed on that deal now.
-
Hmm, good point. It's gotta be optioned then.

Anderson Hernandez is no longer on the ML 15-day disabled list and has been officially assigned to Norfolk (he'd been there for the last 10 days or so on a rehabilitation assignment).

Hernandez has been officially activated off the ML 15-day disabled list and officially assigned to Norfolk. He's been there for the last 2 weeks on a rehabilitation assignment anyway. Doesn't look like he'll be back in the majors any time in the forseeable future. Wilson is still backing up at catcher for the first-place Detroit Tigers, who are still winning this minor trade. Schaefer POTG 05/23-24/06 Phillies 8, Mets 9
Gwreck replied to Willets Point's topic in New York Mets Talk
Oliver 1.875 Beltran 1.875 Reyes 1.875 Floyd .875 Wright .75 Sanchez .5 Woodward .42 Franco .42 Matsui .41 Bradford .25 Feliciano .25 Julio .25 Wagner .25 I think 13 Schaefer point earners is a record. -
BELTRAN!!!!! PUT IT IN THE BOOKS!!!!
-
The last time the Mets won in the 16th Inning was also -- unbelieveably -- a playoff game. Again, you can probably guess when that was.
-
Last 16 inning game: 6/16/95.
-
Pedro apparently was swinging a bat in the dugout and talking to Willie at the top of this inning.
-
Extra inning trivia: last time the Mets won a game in the 15th inning, they were playing the Braves...I'm guessing everyone else knows the rest.
-
...and he's HITTING! WTF?
-
You know it's an interesting game when.... You're the 6th pitcher used and you've gone longer than the starting pitcher
-
Madson is at 84 pitches. They've gotta pull him soon.
-
Lefty glove though is a convincing argument. I think we're settled on Matsui.
-
Edgy DC wrote: Matsui would perhaps bring a whole host of new communication issues. Eh, I think they're managing just fine in Seattle...
-
Edgy DC wrote: Whiff of Beltran! How much could Madson have left in the tank at this point? What a game for that guy. This is apparently only his 5th (?) relief outing this year after starting...but still, this is impressive.
-
Edgy DC wrote: Delgado is the best choice, but since he's invaluable it may be better to put the most disposeable player in there. At this point, I'd probably go with Delgado though. I remember advocating Nady (which would also allow the fewest guys playing out of position). Maybe Chavez then?

Willets Point wrote: ="Zvon"]That was HUGE. The Phils announcers already yelled BASEHIT! I love it. So did the Mets announcer. Not Howie and Tom McCarthy.

Johnny Dickshot wrote: Wow. Paul LoDuca leads off the 13th still without having made amends for the non-play that cost us 4 runs. Wow, Lo Duca is getting skewered here tonight. C'mon, maybe that cost us a run, but he didn't serve up the gopher ball. And he didn't walk the runners.

Last time it would've been Nady at first. Tonight...Floyd, I think.
