  1. I did not know that Heath Bell skateboarded to spring training each day.
  2. Big K of Abreu. Walk Burrell to set up the DP?
  3. Centerfield wrote: Feliciano coming in to face the top of the lineup. 7th inning is usually Heilman time no? Or Sanchez? I think's because of Utley and Abreu. If he doesn't go 1-2-3 I'd imagine someone else (Bradford?) to face Burrell.
  4. Dammit, "real" work got in the way, just rejoining. After an inning, sounds like Russo's really not that bad on PBP. Looks like a much more reasonable outing from Gonzalez. Bullpen time.
  5. As much as I hate Francesca, props for using the phrase "here to paint you the word picture."
  6. Stat of the day: the Mets have never lost when Jeremi Gonzalez starts. Ok, seriously now -- I think Nady is a better choice than Chavez because my guess is that the Mets will have to outhit the Phils to win today.

  8. Nope, thankfully. Carson Palmer.
  9. Can't make the analysis without at least a prefunctory mention of the $$ saved. Or John Maiine, who apparently will still be a fairly good prospect when he comes off the DL. I say the jury's still out on Wigginton, nevermind that when he was traded it was an excellent sell-high moment. Too early to say his early success this year disproves that.
  10. Heilman's not being blocked. He's just too valuable in the bullpen, another shutout inning tonight. Everybody seems to forget that he really hasn't shown very much as a starter. The deal clearly has upside -- no more Lima, and if Soler pitches well, no more Gonzalez either. I think after the start on Thursday, Gonzalez is going to get sent down, with Bell taking Julio's spot in the bullpen. It'll be fine to cut bait with Hernandez because Maine and Bannister will be back after not too long -- but considering what's invested in him, I think he'll get quite a few chances.

  12. Put it in the books!
  13. Sandman time.

  15. Fuck Burrell. x33

  17. 6 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 4BB, 5 K, 102 pitches. Nice solid debut, welcome Alay Soler.
  18. Lieber's at 98 pitches and probably gets lifted if the Phils get a runner on.
  19. Redemption time, Chris Woodward.
  20. David Wright!
  21. Lieber's only walked 5 guys this year before tonight (3 now with the walk to Woody). I think we can get him tonight.
  22. Beltran is En Fuego.
  23. ...and then suddenly Soler figures out how to throw strikes. Strange.
  24. This development is rather disturbing. SC = only on the "rather"
