  1. Citi Field Certificate of Occupancy has been issued: http://a810-cofo.nyc.gov/cofo/Q/402/321000/402321126T004.PDF
  2. Sunday, April 5 at 11:00 AM the Mets are having an "open workout" prior to their departure for Cincinnati. Tickets were distributed to all ticket plan holders. Seating is general admission. Parking $5 if you drive. Concessions open. They did something similar in 2006, so you can probably expect it to be something like a batting practice plus the shooting of t-shirts. Nothing fancy, but an opportunity to come check out the new stadium certainly. I don't get a charter flight to Cincinnati so that means I'll be missing this. Have 2 tickets to give away if anyone here is interested. Don't have a trivia question or anything so if there's interest, send me a PM and I'll draw a name randomly.
  3. No Gary on the SNY broadcast; Keith is doing the PBP.
  4. ="G-Fafif":3tzffac0]Mets should elevate the field of play since most of their fans will be up in the Prom. Hope seat-fillers are found so it doesn't look to desolate downstairs on television.[/quote:3tzffac0] Problem is that for most games, tickets on the promenade level are already sold. You either take those 92 middle deck or 125 field level seats...or you don't get to buy anything. I wonder if a few months of empty seats all over the field level will shame the Mets into cutting ticket prices. TheOldMole Mar 25 2009 06:01 PM I think the Hudson Valley Renegades are going to get the rest of my baseball dollars. Fman99 Mar 25 2009 08:07 PM ="TheOldMole":1l0rp12p]I think the Hudson Valley Renegades are going to get the rest of my baseball dollars.[/quote:1l0rp12p] That's a nice park. I've been there with my dad once or twice. We will attend a AAA Syracuse Chiefs game every 2-3 weeks during the better weather. A great deal for live baseball, high quality product, and lots of great seats available for every home game (think 12-15 rows from the field, for about $8 a pop). Cheap concessions, 10 minute drive from the house, etc. Kong76 Mar 26 2009 04:21 AM I usually get to a Renegades game at least once a year ... Lowell Spinners too. Funny, after all these years I still haven't been out to see the 'clones.
  5. 3.5 seasons with the Diamondbacks, but they were his best and where he won the WS MVP. 2 WS with Boston. Nearly 8 years with Philly, although some shortened by injury. First pennant. Which cap on the HOF plaque?
  6. Pelfrey mentioned getting married on this week's Mets Weekly and they had a quick shot of the happy couple walking down the aisle.
  7. ]I am pondering taking a half day that day, to go home and watch the game on my big-ass-TV. Did one better and took the whole day off work. Will be in attendance. Where'd you see that parade info? I gotta start planning the trip.
  8. duan wrote: about the crowds - why in the name of jesus were they playing the games in Miami which has proven that it doesn't get excited about baseball. Excited about the Marlins, you mean. Did you see the crowd for the Puerto Rico-Venezuela game? They were fantastic.
  9. Also notable in today's game: Beltran robs a home run from McCann that was going over the CF wall. MLB Network announcers go on about what a great catch it was (and it was) but proceed to talk about how it'd go on the all-WBC highlight reel. I think to myself -- I'm not sure that even goes on the all-Beltran highlight reel.
  10. My only thought was "don't hurt him!" Thank you, David...now: Carlos Carlos Pedro Alex Nelson get back to Port St. Lucie NOW!!! --- If Redding starts the year on the DL, perhaps Figueroa has an outside chance at making the roster. 7.1 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 6 K, 3 BB. Not too shabby.
  11. Reminded me of a shot of Tug.
  12. The review works when he offers opinions on topics in which he has expertise. Hence my criticism of the way he ended.
  13. Mexico got knocked out by Cuba last night, so Oliver Perez, please get yourself on the next flight back to Port St. Lucie immediately.
  14. The gratuitous editorializing in the final sentence undermines the writer's authority by delving too far off topic. That aside, the review was pretty fair and I the point about ballparks being best in an urban setting is well-taken. The new park *does* look quite out of place sitting in the middle of a big parking lot.
  15. Won't take too much to move up that list, either.
  16. Philles send Cole Hamels to get elbow examined[/url:1vkhnf65]. Not by Dr. Andrews, but "persistent discomfort in the pitching elbow" is not exactly a sign of good things to come. I'd never root for injuries (maybe to Brett Myers) but from a competitive standpoint this is not good for the Phillies.
  17. Apparently he's on better terms with the organization these days -- he just got done doing a stint as a guest instructor in Port St. Lucie.
  18. Found it very strange to see a USA player wearing 42.
  19. Let me just say that Billy Wagner as our 7th inning guy (or lefty specialist, if you want) would be a thing of beauty. He can take all the time he needs, so long as he's ready for September 15th when the Mets have a 15 game lead and he can start tuning up for the playoffs.
  20. Not mentioned yet in this thread: Bobby Parnell. I see Parnell (or perhaps O'Day) as getting a spot.
  21. Well, exactly. And that's what the article said. Ideally, the MTA would be getting money from Citibank to name the station "Citi Field." But as we all know, Citibank has no money to give.
  22. To put "Citi Field" on the subway signs, the MTA wanted some of the money that was being paid for the name of the stadium. Hence asking the Mets for it. Makes perfect sense to me. The MFYs didn't sell naming rights to their park, hence the MTA can't ask for money. And they aren't changing the signs, either, because the name of the stadium is the same.

  24. Jose Reyes, please report back to Port St. Luice on the double.
