  1. Easy play made to look hard, Jim Edmonds style. (We are in StL, after all).
  2. Rodriguez in.
  3. Ryan knows that a single is ok, too, right? That a HR isn't the only possibility?
  4. How about Justin Upton as a pinch runner here? Oh, wait, we used everyone already with needless substitutions. Great job Charlie!
  5. Our bench: Howard, Freddy Sanchez, Hunter Pence. Way to manage Charlie! Why save a good pinch-hitter for the end of the game? Instead, we have Yadier Molina and Ryan Zimmerman coming up.
  6. Joe Buck: "Charlie Manuel is going to manage any way he can to win the game." Gwreck:" I guess that's why Charlie put Werth in the game in centerfield instead of sticking with the vastly superior Victorino.
  7. Santos > Hawpe.
  8. Proof that Charlie Manuel is a moron: he substituted Jayson Werth for Shane Victorino in centerfield. Does he really think that Werth is a better centerfielder than Victorino? Perhaps he'd like to make that switch when the Phillies are playing the Mets.
  9. Referred to the Phillies' douchebag centerfielder as the first Hawaiian position player in MLB.
  10. Way to take some pitches, NL.
  11. Fman99 wrote: Go away, Bono. No one cares anymore. Like him or hate him, the second part of your sentence is very much untrue.
  12. I know. Seriously. It's not as if Crawford or Suzuki were running and there was no chance to get the runner at the plate. A half decent effort would've kept the run from scoring.
  13. David caught looking by Greinke.
  14. I'd use Billingsley, Johnson, Haren, Bell and Rodriguez for the rest of the game if it were up to me. Cordero I guess gets an inning if necessary. Don't want Duke, Lilly, Hoffman, Marquis and definitely not Santana in there.
  15. metsguyinmichigan wrote: Pujols saved him from bouncing it. Yeah, but as was pointed out to me, he was wearing a bulletproof vest while throwing that pitch.
  16. We got the lead, so we're going to all-closers the rest of the way. I think Francisco might need to pitch 2 innings.
  17. David with the first NL hit!
  18. Nice job covering firstbase jackass. Also cut your freaking hair already.
  19. Should've started Haren.
  20. Jeez. Pujols error already.
  21. I don't really care about the White Sox but I respect Obama more for being a true fan of his team and representing.
  22. This isn't basketball (or even football) where a top draft pick makes an immediate impact on your team.
  23. ="metirish":q1zhme26]President Obama will throw out the first pitch.......expect Jeter to be front and center.[/quote:q1zhme26] I think they announced that Pujols will catch the pitch. metirish Jul 14 2009 06:02 PM Oh for fucks sake stop it Joe Buck ......opening into.....little kid playing theball.....Buck's voice over tells us that this is America's game and " nowhere is this more true that in St Louis"....... another 4 hours of this Fman99 Jul 14 2009 07:56 PM ="LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr":23s6dfhb]Why, I heard tell once of a St. Louis fanatic who was cuffed about by a scoundrel outside the stadium. At the trial, the crank testified against the mugger, who stood and applauded his effort. Appreciating this, the rapscallion-- also a Cardinals booster-- gave to hooting and hollering for the chap, for being a stand-up stand-upper. The entire gallery, supporters of both the Blood-Redbirds AND a good round of applause, clapped the pair's rhythmic clapping, for it was a hearty clapping, indeed! Those St. Loo bugs-- they sure are a bunch of swell ol' darbs, they are![/quote:23s6dfhb] I love when LWFS goes all 1914 on us. Classic! Willets Point Jul 14 2009 09:17 PM I didn't watch, mainly because MLB.com tv assumes that even though I pay to watch on the internet because I don't have a tv, I will suddenly get a tv whenever a game is on FOX or ESPN.
  24. I voted the first choice. Maybe it's the little kid in me but I still love the all-star game. I like watching the players from other teams; I like the spectacle and the introductions; I like seeing the Mets players do well in the game; and I like when the National League wins. The last thing has been a bit of a problem recently but that only piques my interest further -- I want this to be the year that the NL finally wins again.
  25. ="LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr":p15krgln]Didn't catch the derby last night-- I take it he was on the broadcast?[/quote:p15krgln] Oh yeah. It was a Berman-Morgan-Phillips triple homicide. Had to watch the whole thing on mute. MFS62 Jul 14 2009 01:26 PM I was listening to one of the sports talk radio shows the other day after the trade. The host was listing the players who had worn #12 with the Mets. He said he saw it on a website, but "couldn't read the name of it". I couldn't get through to give the UMDB its props. Later Benjamin Grimm Jul 14 2009 01:37 PM Thanks for trying, but it's just as well. The credit for the uniform number info should rightly go to MBTN. If I got on air, my mind would have kicked in and I would have probably plugged both of them. Later
