  1. Mike Hessman's one tall third baseman.
  2. Dillon Gee is the most perfect baseball player ever formed by the Lord.
  3. Luis Hernandez making late push for MVP.
  4. Mets go quietly after Gee's RBI single. Either they're besotted by overconfidence or Maya has been scared straight. Maya was an incredibly underrated SNL cast member.
  5. And the DH can officially be retired from the sport. Go Gee!
  6. Three batters, three flyouts to center. Play HoJo at short to generate more offense.
  7. Based on the entirety of Dillon Gee's major league career, he is a total fly ball pitcher.
  8. Plenty of adequate seats appear to be available.
  9. No Ike has looked this good in Washington since January 20, 1961.
  10. Ike making a late ROTY run!
  11. Hessman and Jacobs still locked in a 1-1 duel. I tried buying tickets for the tour in July and couldn't get two for the same desired time frame until September. I think the limit per tour is 20, so that should be comparable to what they draw for the Pirate series.
  12. Melvin screams unexcitement, division title and LDS victory notwithstanding, but I think "the fans" (as if they're/we're all one blob) would give him at least one homestand's grace before deciding he was the problem. The Bobby V factor depends on how much he gets mentioned, if he gets interviewed, if he winds up in Florida or anywhere. Come Opening Day 2011, the focus will likely be on the players. Nobody much cares about the manager until he proves (or seems to prove) he doesn't know what he's doing. That usually takes at least a couple of weeks, even in New York.
  13. We enter a battle of comparable opponents with this lineup: Angel Pagan RF Luis Hernandez 2B Carlos Beltran CF David Wright 3B Ike Davis 1B Lucas Duda LF Henry Blanco C Ruben Tejada SS Dillon Gee RHP
  14. I find that hard to believe...that anyone cares what Michael Kay says, that is.
  15. No Bobby Cox-managed team has ever lost a pennant race down the stretch. 1985 Jays, Braves in 1991, 1992, 1993. Weren't really challenged severely from '95 through '05, but they withstood all comers. Perhaps I'm buying a bit much into the Win One for Bobby thing, but I don't see them letting down. I decided in March that this would be the year for Phillie comeuppance and I'll stick with that.
  16. Directed those dreadful Charlie's Angels movies. Oh wait, that was this guy.
  17. Somewhere along the way, Ford inserted a Chyron graphic to identify "DAVID WRIGHT NEW YORK METS" when the window rolls down on his Lincoln and he announces, "The game has officially been changed." David not recognizable enough to a New York audience after six seasons? They only seem to run them during Mets games anyway.
  18. Ashie62 wrote: In the year 2525 If man is still alive if woman can survive The Mets may choose to thrive for the pennant they shall strive. 2525? Isn't that Ollie's ERA?
  19. If you're putting together a gallery of teams that are still mathematically alive, take the 55-82 Cleveland Indians off it.
  20. When Mrs. Fafif was apprised of the final score, she pinned it on an unholy alliance of which I was not previously aware: "The Nationals were getting even with the Mets for what they did to the Cubs yesterday."
  21. Outstanding graphic work. I'm trying to remember when there was an Ameriquest ad in the left field corner. AIG had that spot, made famous by Endy, from '06 to '08. 2005? Love Takahashi getting the Tim Redding Shea treatment. Funny thing is Johan actually did pitch at Shea (as the patch confirms for those with short memories) but design requirements seem to have him superimposed, too. I'm thinking the starting pitchers dominating the top spots so heavily has to be a Schaefer monthly first.
  22. Heart, soul and actual information on an otherwise tired subject. That sound you hear is the slow clap emerging from the Notre Dame huddle as Rudy runs back onto the practice field and now it's building into furious applause. WTG, bmfc.
