You gotta wonder when Bill Flores will see some time at third." That doesn't sound like someone who's accepting the assignment! Probably blew my chance at solving this mystery in December 2014. But if he and I cross paths again, you betcha!

  3. From my night chillin' with Todd Zeile, just another Mets fan these days.
  4. So this is what happens when Ray Ramirez sends injured Mets down the tunnel.
  5. Jose has popped up eight times since last night.
  6. I fucking applaud the existence of this thread.

  8. DW is now on the 60-day DL, hopefully for less than 600 days.
  9. And Duda, like d'Arnaud, is unavailable. ETA: Td'A can pinch-hit tonight.
  10. Also, Flores has an infection in a joint (which sound like something you can pick up at Flash Dancers).
  11. Familia back, Plawecki activated; Montero, Gilmartin down to Vegas.
  12. There's a warm spell if not a hot streak somewhere in that bat.

  15. A game as cold as it was dismal and dismal as it was cold. Saw JCL from a distance pregame. Thought about shouting. Didn't as it felt too far for flagging down. Took tenth-inning refuge in the Promenade Club, which was deserted by the final out. SNY was a tick behind the live action, so it was eerie watching Montero give up run after run behind soundproof glass and then hearing Gary Cohen report it as if it were new. Our section featured a guy in a cape with a stuffed lion, the latter to pay homage to Cespedes, the former, well, who asks a guy why he's wearing a cape if a phone booth isn't nearby?
  16. 3. If you only count his one inning as a Met, his 18.00 K/9 rate would make HIM the hall of famer. Bob Gibson, the 1987 version. 15. Stared down Clayton Kershaw... and walked. Sterling Award winner who was a minor league starter but only lasted 33 MLB relief innings. LHP. Robert Carson, who just gave up another home run somewhere. I looked these up for closure.
  17. Jack Antonoff, lead singer of Bleachers, performed in a Mr. Met tank top on Jimmy Kimmel Live, April 17, 2017.

Seminal internet activity existed within the grasp of the general public between May of 1993 and August of 1996. Dallas Green was the manager of record when I first stumbled into electronic baseball communications in April of 1994. I used it initially to promote the cause of Josias Manzanillo for closer. But did Dallas listen?
  19. One of my prouder moments as a fan was being the first among the attendance on a Saturday afternoon in May of 1993 to start booing the face of Jeff Torborg as it appeared on DiamondVision plugging the optical firm he was paid to endorse. The boos were picked up from there and they became the predominant reaction. A couple of weeks later, he was gone. You're welcome. Torborg was the worst. Green, by dint of not being Torborg, can't rank any lower than next-to-last.
  20. Mets try to bounce back in this N.L. Easter showdown, Harvey Day vs Straily We Roll Along. Happy sixth or so day of Passover everybody! May the bullpen not be matzohlike in its fragility.
  21. Stranded inherited runners as a core competency. Was a fun postgame interview and easygoing social media interactor. Would have fit well on the playoff teams and benefited from the exposure, probably. Was going to make the Dickey trade look even better when John Buck (and Marlon Byrd) was turned into this closer of the future. Then Herrera was traded for Bruce and there went that thread...until April 2017 when Jay Bruce maybe reignited its fuse. One of those athletes who didn't mind brandishing a MAGA cap (though not at the MLB level, since he wasn't on it in 2015 or 2016), and that was kind of disappointing.
  22. With T.J. down for Gilmartin, we have a three-man bench tonight: Yo, Neil, Td'A.
  23. Gilmartin up, T.J. Rivera down. We have, what, a three-man bench?
