  1. Congratulations Grandy and the Brewers. Looking forward to listening Ueck call the NLCS versus whichever team we can't stand that emerges as Milwaukee's opponent, likely L.A. Sorry the Rockies tumbled without a sound, but it doesn't deter from a rousing regular season and a Wild Card triumph. That stuff will feel good somewhere along the way.
  2. RIP to two players I knew mostly as baseball cards I kept getting when I was seven: Lee Stange, 81; and Marty Pattin, 75.
  3. A pleasure, as it is every year, to have taken part. Thank you Grimm for making it a cornerstone of the Metsian experience (mine anyway). And congratulations to Mr. deGrom, who deserves all the awards, all the cars, all the tote bags. Stealth non-Jake Player of the Year: Asdrubal McNeil. Even taking into account their very brief overlap, you could slap together the departing veteran's and arriving rookie's seasons and have the most productive Mets second baseman this side of Edgardo Alfonzo.
  4. As I cast my 6.0 for Sydnergaard for September 30, it occurred to me this performance was probably going to cost Jake September pitching honors. Oh well, at least it went to another Met. Another excellent card set to finish up the year. Thank you for keeping up the quality all the way through the high numbers.

  7. Thank you for printing and tallying 162 ballots again this season, BG. A fun part of every game, win or lose.
  8. DeGrom. Scherzer. Probably. It's only 179 days away.
  9. Unheralded No. 11 still with the club, spotted in the hug line for David.
  10. Syndergaard vs. Alcantara to put a capper on a season in the crapper, yet this whole Mets baseball every day thing will be missed as soon as it hits us that it's not here. So I'd suggest enjoying whatever is left to enjoy. First pitch 3:10 PM. Last pitch far too soon.
  11. Trevor Richards will pitch for the 2018 Marlins.
  12. Turns out only two of the above entries are correct. Reyes SS McNeil 2B Wright 3B Conforto LF Bruce 1B Nimmo RF Jackson CF Plawecki C Matz P
  13. Reyes SS Valentin 2B Wright 3B Floyd LF Delgado 1B Green RF Beltran CF Lo Duca C Martinez P
  14. What the hell is Mickey doing? A thirty-four year-old at third base and another at shortstop? In this going-nowhere season? What happened to getting a look at the kids? What the hell is going on here? Oh, right. Never mind. Let's Go David. Let's Go Jose. Let's Go Mets.
  15. No. 7 batting leadoff tonight, No. 5 batting third. By George, I do believe Mickey Callaway has gotten the hang of filling out a Mets lineup card. A Mets lineup card from 2006, perhaps, but that was a very good year.
  16. Paul Sewald is now 0-13 as a big league pitcher. He should be glad nobody much pays attention to constantly shuttled middle relievers' won-lost records.
  17. Experimental slot for Rosario tonight. Nimmo CF McNeil 2B Conforto RF Bruce 1B Rosario SS Smith LF Frazier 3B Plawecki C Oswalt the Rabbit P

  19. I hear more people are getting their shower curtains online these days.
  20. Game of the year at Citi Field tonight. I love a night when everybody who went out of their way to be there (as opposed to people who were handed tickets and looked at their phones) is committed to the "A" storyline. For scale, it was comparable to Dickey earning his 20th. Hell, 10 is the new 20. Here's to Jake, Pitcher of the Year, Met of the Decade.
  21. Great article. They deserve all the plus coverage they get. Loved the portrayal of the YES booth as well.
  22. Mets activate David Wright from 60-day DL. So much for the youth movement.
  23. bmfc1 wrote: The Nationals "Winterfest" is December 1 and 2. Have the Mets announced their Winterfest dates yet? It will take place on a warm winter's day in hell.
  24. Speculation has already arisen regarding the possibility that he'll be non-tendered in the offseason. Ouch.
  25. Wilmer Flores is out for the season with early onset arthritis in both knees.
