  1. Seventh inning, time for winning!
  2. Toronto's new Jay made a bad first and last impression as a Met. In between, he was not utterly undependable.

  12. This just in. All fully vaccinated players and staff can stop wearing masks in dugouts, bullpens and clubhouses under the latest change to Major League Baseball's coronavirus protocols. In addition, fully vaccinated players and staff may eat in restaurants without restrictions and attend sporting events as spectators at venues with government approved safety protocols, the commissioner's office and players' association said in a memo sent Wednesday night. Kinexon electronic tracing devices and monitor testing are being eliminated, and compliance officers no longer have to accompany teams on trips. Social distancing and mask requirements have been eliminated for team busses involving fully vaccinated players and staff, and players and staff can resume arriving at clubhouses more than five hours before game time. Unvaccinated and partially vaccinated players and staff still must wear masks, but it will not be considered a violation to remove or pull down the mask to briefly eat or drink, before entering or leaving a shower or at the direction of the medical or training staff. Clubhouse social distancing was eliminated for all teams reaching 85% vaccination among tier 1 individuals such as players, managers, coaches and training staff. As of last Friday, 22 of the 30 teams had reached 85% among tier 1 individuals. Restrictions on team individuals dining together also were eliminated, with the exception that non-vaccinated individuals must still wear masks when not eating or drinking. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/31654879/mlb-relaxes-covid-protocol-restrictions-vaccinated-players-staffhttps://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/31654879/mlb-relaxes-covid-protocol-restrictions-vaccinated-players-staff
  13. From the Mets. FLUSHING, N.Y., June 16, 2021 – The New York Mets today announced that Citi Field will return to full capacity Monday, June 21 for the Mets 5:10 p.m. doubleheader against the Atlanta Braves. Social distancing and mask requirements at the ballpark have been eased effective immediately. Fans no longer need to show proof of a negative COVID test and/or vaccination to enter the ballpark with a valid ticket. The Mets are in the process of communicating with ticket holders regarding capacity increases and the elimination of vaccinated/unvaccinated seating sections. A 25% discount offer for tickets purchased online at Mets.com/FathersDay (CODE: DAD) for all remaining regular season games (excluding the September 10-12 Subway Series) concludes this Friday night at 11:59 p.m. ET. With anticipated increases in attendance, the Mets encourage fans to take mass transit and arrive early to enter the ballpark.

  19. Met home games among 2020 Mets who weren't Mets before 2020 and haven't played as Mets at home in 2021: Andres Gimenez 26 Chasen Shreve 10 Billy Hamilton 9 Jared Hughes 8 Jake Marisnick 7 Robinson Chirinos 6 Rick Porcello 6 Dellin Betances 4 Brian Dozier 4 Guillermo Heredia 3 Hunter Strickland 3 Michael Wacha 3 Eduardo Nunez 2 Erasmo Ramirez 2 Ali Sanchez 2 Ryan Cordell 1 Franklyn Kilome 1 Betances has played for the Mets in 2021, but only on the road (one game, in Philadephia; has begun a rehab stint with St. Lucie). Kilome is at Syracuse. Everybody else has moved on. Neither Gimenez nor Hamilton is scheduled to play at Citi Field this season. Hughes is retired. Only Chasen Shreve, currently with Pittsburgh, looms as having a chance this season to best Marisnick as most Queens-experienced Silent Generation Met to come back to Citi Field with no idea what it's like to be cheered by Mets fans at home.
  20. Come to think of it, Guillermo Heredia played three games at Citi Field in front of nobody as a 2020 Met and in front of fans as an ex-Met at Citi Field last month. Marisnick played seven home games as a 2020 Met. By playing tonight, he may set some sort of ex-Met record for never having heard, at a Mets home game, a single Mets fan cheer directed at him, unless there's pent-up after-the-fact appreciation about to manifest itself.
  21. Jake Marisnick will not be the first ex-Met to play in front of Mets fans at a Mets home game who never played as a Met in front of Mets fans at a Mets home game. Brad Clontz was a Met in 1998 whose only two appearances as a Met were on the road. In 1999, he appeared twice as an ex-Met/current Buc at Shea (with fans in attendance), the second time most notably when he unleashed the wild pitch that allowed Melvin Mora to score from third in Game 162.
  22. Jake Marisnick may be the first ex-Met to play in front of Mets fans at a Mets home game who never played as a Met in front of Mets fans at a Mets home game.
