  2. Bernard Gilkey dropped a fly ball because he saw a flying saucer.i think a flying saucer over shea would be a good idea, provided they only abduct opposing pitchers.
  3. thats insane, screw baez. take those guys, add milledge, add some other guy and go bang on cincy's door for adam dunn.
  4. Chan Ho might be the happiest man in MLB right now.....after 4 years of ERA's well over 5 he returns to a division that can't hit with it's only great hitter out for the year and a pitcher's park that most hurlers can only dream of... Petco Park is where homers go to die... i still think he'll suck of course, but more to the tune of 4.50, not 6.00
  5. if Dunn is available without giving up Wright/Pedro GET HIM!
  6. ]the Mets have put the thought in every GM's mind in baseball, "Wow, maybe I can get some from these stupid bimbos--I would agree, IF Pjillips were still the GM...I doubt they hold his stupidity against Minaya.also please keep Lugo off this team and keep Baez where he is unless we aren't giving Looper up.... thats a bad tradeoff imo.
  7. he was definetaly a Staten Island Yankee the 2nd year they played at CSI.
  8. a less cynical amswer: 2 years ago the Mets were not a contender with or without Ramirez, they certainly weren't last year either. This year the Mets might be in contention and are definetaly in contention for next year.
  9. ]If Boston gets Looper they can return Curt to the rotation. a starter is more valuable than a closer anyway, if Curt was physically capable of starting right now i'd have to think thats what he'd be doing.
  10. an interesting take on the potential trade but i think the texas newspaper over values Soriano.. Morgan he is not, nor is he Biggio, Kent, Alomar etc. in their primes. If they think they are getting zambrano, heilman, and milledge for a guy who is a FA next year they are kidding themselves.
  11. among the active players Glavine is a stretch to me. Ramirez wouldn't get in (imo) if he suffered a career ending injury tommorow, but assuming he doesn't h's a lock. the rest of those (active) guys should be locks.as far as the retired guys:Blyleven and Rice are the best pitcher/hitter not currently enshrined and eligible, imo.i don't want Dawson in the HOF, i'm not 100% sold on McGwire either, Marris isn't in is he?
  12. after writing an apology to Zambrano thread i'd hate to see him traded now... my friend the Yankee fan thinks Soriano is god and belongs in the same sentence as Guerrero...i say the only thing the two have in common is a hispanic name. I'd rather keep decent starters around than trade for a 2Bman who can't get on base and isn't very good defensively plus is a free agent soon and will thus cost tons of $$ that are better spent elsewhere.I'm not totally against Soriano but if it takes Heilman AND Zambrano along with a B or better prospect i have to say no.I have gotten to the point of being lukewarm on Zambrano...i don't like him yet but he's shown some potential recently and i'd like to keep him in a Met uniform the rest of the year and see what he can do.Same thing with Heilman, sure he's had his failures but he's pitched well recently and isn't at the "peak" age yet. He should immediately be allowed to take Ishii's starts...but i said that months ago.
  13. maddux used to complete his games, i'd bet he has very few in the past 3-5 years.
  14. i'm 5-1 this year, dont know my all time record, i've been going regularly since at least '96.edit- since i adamantly refuse to leave a game that has not officially ended i've nevr had the partial game problem, but IF i did i'd say:if you leave when they are winning and they win you get a Wif you leave when they are winning and they lose you get nothingif you leave when they are losing and they win you get nothingif you leave when they are losing and they lose you get a L
  15. ](6) have their season tickets (or those of the folks who gave them their seats) cancelled and the balance of their money returned.*** thats a bit extreme as who knows if they thought it was foul? what if its a kid? but i agree with #'s 1-5. at the very least you get the boot and dont keep the ball.
  16. i havent been inclined to vote basically since we fell way behind and i didnt want to catch up... maybe i'll start again soonas far as wins/losses go keep it on the same scale. at the end of the year peoole looking at the raw numbers can adjust by different percentages to play with the numbers all they want
  17. ]Is there even anything in Willets Point? I have a mind, heart and a soul. You mean to tell me you didn't sell your soul to satan around game 6?
  18. ]I'd ask Cincinnati about Ryan Freel (once he gets off the DL) and Milwaukee about Billy Hall.no thanks to Hall...i'd rather find a buig 1B in the offseason and sort out the many minor leagye infielders we have to see which ones deserve a shot at 2B in Queens.[/code]
  19. just checking in to say i'm not dead...i havent been around much lately....this trade would suck for my roto team losing burnett to the al
  20. Whether or not Reyes' OBP would be better now with more time in the minors is moot. What matters is that his OBP is killing the Mets right now and he should be batting 7th or 8th.
  21. You don't go to jail for that.if this happened between 2 guys on the street with police present or called to the scene while Rogers is still there he probably spends the night in jail and is released in the morning, probably with an appearence ticket for a violation.
  22. Mike Piazza is hitting 4th/5th because his name is Mike Piazza. There are certainly better options.I liked the skit...but you left out getting rid of Justin Huber...suprising from a Piazza-hater.
  23. ]BUT, I think that a huge portion of Met fans jumped to premature conclusions here (so unlike them too!). Considering that we got a whopping 3 starts out of this guy last year before he went down - meaning he then started this year effectively having sat for 8 months My negative opinion of Zambrano stemmed from his inability to keep the walks under control, not his 3 starts with the Mets last year.]For me to apologize to Zambrano, he'd have to outpitch this guy by even a little bit: Zambrano is pitching well, its not HIS fault he was traded for Kazmir.
  24. my Icon shall remain unchanged! go hard liquor**don't drink till you are 21, then get plastered.
  25. a little 1st grade math for the Nationals-(Preston Wilson) - ( Coors Field) = below average player.
