  2. mailing them insured is likely under $5 considering the # of packages they are sending out, i cant imagine handling should amount to more than another $5... the Mets are pulling a fast one here...with a less than 10% chance of making the playoffs (and therefore refunding postseason ticket money) i have to think this is a deliberate attempt to suck $40 a person out of ticket holders.

    Cheat.

wwsb has to know how to cheat, he worked for the yankees after all. maybe he knows which umps they pay.
  4. ]What's my point? I'm just curious who was demanding and was pissed off at Willie, and then was demanding and pissed off at Willie about exactly the opposite. My point should be self-explanatory that not true. calling for the opposite would mean calling for more of Matsui...I'm doing nothing of the sort....Matsui proved he can't hit so i called for Cairo (who at the time was a better option than our injured minor leaguers plus hernandez had just switched from ss and needed to learn a position) now that Cairo has shown he cant hit either i am calling for someone else. theres nothing wrong with my position i dont think, i want htem to keep turning the 2b job over to someone else until someone comes along who gets the job done.
  5. they both suck. we want hernandez now!
  6. we're still in the top of the 2nd? wow. PITCH FASTER!
  7. Matsui, in a minor display of doing the right thing, hits it to the right side moving reyes over to third with 1 out.
  8. you're both right. the only one that is wrong here is wee willie bat the yankee 2nd small balls.
  9. ]Take away the 5 biggest margin-of-victory games and the Mets have a 544-534 RS-RA edge on opponents, or a .509 WP% -- pretty much what we're looking at this morning. if you're going to take away a team's 5 best games you to take away the 5 worst as well, which i believe would be 11, 7, 7, 7, 7?
  10. i was working all night, i missed from the 5th inning on... nice to see that Roberto Hernandez isn't available for bases loaded vs. Cabrera but is available for mop-up duty in a 7-1 win...nice fuckin bullpen management there.
  11. you misunderstood. what i'm saing is your record tells you nothing about what needs improvement or what doesn't. you could squeek into the playoffs with a terrible run differential which will tell us that you had beter not rest on your laurels or you ain't making it back next year.
  12. ]I say forget stats and formulas and all that nonsense. At the end of the day, you either win or you lose. and when you ignore the stats and say, i dont know, play miguel cairo every day, you tend to lose more often. ]The other stuff, of which OPS is most crucial, helps you understand how W-L records and RS records are achieved, but they're more fallible than the bottom line numbers are. but the W/L record don't tell you anything about what you are missing. if you are 81-81 what does that tell you? if on the other hand you scored 650 runs and allowed 635 it tells you that you need some help scoring runs, not preventing them. but it still hasn't told you why you arent scoring runs. so you take a look and see that while your 3, 4, and 5 hitters all have respectable SLG% they have few RBIs, so you look at your top 2 and notice that they are getting on base at a combined rate of 31%! and now you've (likely) found your problem, and if you're smart you'll go out and address that instead of replacing perfectly good pitchers who have bad W-L records through no fault of their own but through horrible run support. my point is you need to go deeper to understand a team, here is another example: halfway through the season you have a team in first place, at 44-37 that has scored 50 less runs than it has allowed. the team in second, 42-39, has scored 50 more runs than it has allowed. who do you expect to win that division?
  13. ok, 2 it is. that only helps make my point.
  14. ]My problem with Bobby V though is he lost it at the end and had no control over the clubhouse I don't think this is that kind of clubhouse anymore. Gone are Rickey, Franco, Leiter, Vaughn, Benitez etc. Wright, Reyes, Beltran, and crew are not going to be a clubhouse problem no matter who manages. ]Oh, and one more thing to remember - Bobby V means no Glavine or Floyd. In other words, this team is probably 10 games worse If Glavine retired tommorow the Mets would be no worse...theyhave 5 other starters as good or better than he is. As for Floyd...well he wouldn't make a 10 game diference over an "average" left fielder...probably more like 3 or 4. Thats assuming he stays healthy next year which is hard to be optimistic about with his history.
  15. ScarletKnight41 wrote: What major leaguer doesn't know that he has to run to first base on a swinging third strike that get away. Jesus! he thought he checked his swing there...if you start running to first you are definetaly getting called on the swing, you've gotta sit there and act like you didnt go around.
  16. and castro belatedly called out on a check swing....how bout showing som heart and getting yourself tossed there willie?
  17. wright at 2nd 2 outs and its CASTRO TIME~!
  18. Wright leads off with a single, come on boys, bail out your dumbass manager!
  19. PLEASE FIRE WWSB (wee willie small brain) right now. let Glavine be a player-manager, he'd probably do better.
  20. NOW Heath Bell is warming up? WHERE THE HELL WAS HE EARLIER? stop fucking around in a penant race morons!!!
  21. gee nobody saw that coming. FIRE THIS MOTHER FUCKER AND HIRE A FORMER PITCHER FOR NEXT YEAR, SOMEONE NEEDS TO LEARN HOW TO MANAGE A BULLPEN.
  22. Takatsu??????????? Why not Roberto Hernandez in this HUGE spot?
  23. Bobby v was the man. i never had a long-term problem with his bullpen management, though every manager has bad games
  24. he lost it in the lights. i seem to recall cameron doing that last year with the bases loaded. its part of the game and a bad call by the official scorer thats gotta be an Error.
  25. only 1 guy that has managed this team in the last 10 years has had a managerial brain in his head, the great Bobby V. Art Howe and now Willie Randolph have shown a total inability to manage a major league baseball team... your bullshit might fly in the AL where you can fall asleep at the wheel but not here. Get Valentine back, i don't care what you have to pay to get him out of his contract.
