  1. KABOOOOM, he's trying to catch Pujols.
  2. ="metirish"]]Update from the Bronx: H. Matsui punched out with bags juiced andthe MFYs lose again. Poor guys, Gay-Rod has been very hard on himself lately, taking the blame for the MFYs so so start, he's such a leader, time Torre sat Matsui for a game. MATSUI SUCKS!
  3. he ranked 22nd and 36th in the 2 measurements quoted, if thats out of 2bmen then he SUCKED SUCKED SUCKED, if it's out of middle infielders then he was at the high end of average in one area and the low end of average in the other
  4. chavez DP to end the rally
  5. Houdini back in action, he strikes Greene out to leave them loaded.
  6. bases loaded, Bannister should be in his element now.
  7. LoDuca lets another baserunner steal 2nd.
  8. I was at his last start and he was pulling rabbits out of his hat for 5 innings, if he allows that many baserunners tonight he won't be so lucky again.
  9. Today's Lineups NO. NEW YORK SAN DIEGO 1. J. Reyes, SS D. Roberts, LF 2. P. Lo Duca, C J. Barfield, 2B 3. C. Delgado, 1B B. Giles, RF 4. D. Wright, 3B M. Piazza, C 5. C. Floyd, LF A. Gonzalez, 1B 6. X. Nady, RF K. Greene, SS 7. K. Matsui, 2B V. Castilla, 3B 8. E. Chavez, CF B. Johnson, CF 9. B. Bannister, P W. Williams, P Chavez in for Beltran, lets go Mets, I want another 10+ pages on the IGT tonight boys! The Mets won't break it open unless YOU post!
  10. from Rubin's blog, quoting an interview done recently by new york writers (it didn't say exactly who) and Piazza: ]Will your Hall of Fame hat be a Met hat? Well, thats not my decision any more, but I would like it to be. I think that will be probably most appropriate.
  11. From Adam Rubin's blog: ]Japanese reliever Yusaku Iriki cleared waivers and is scheduled to start tonight for Triple-A Norfolk. I guess we didnt lose him after all, someone said we had.
  12. ]Just like you don't need to be Jewish to eat Levy's rye bread, and you don't have to be a Quaker to eat Quaker Oats, i don't have to be a Dominican to be offended by racial insensitivity performed publicly in the spirit of having a good time. and you don't have to be Mexican to eat a Taco, but thats not the argument here at all. you DO have to be jewish to say that a caricature of a big-nosed jew is offensive and you do have to be a quaker to find something about quakers offensive (sorry can't think of any quaker stereotypes that get made fun of at the moment.) for someone else to find something offensive when persons of the nationality/race/religion that they say is being offended don't find it offensive doesn't make it offensive, it might even mean that THEY, the over-eager defender of bullshit political correctness, are in fact the ones being offensive because they don't understand the culture that they think they are defending. wow big paragraph... let me try and put that a little more succinctly... if the Mets had Sandy Koufax and a group of fans decided to be "Sandy's Chaverim ("Friends" in hebrew) and wear comical fake beards and black hats should you be offended if the jews on the board told you that they were not? i can't imagine how the answer to that could be "yes" ]I don't think its a high horse to follow the golden rule - treat others how you want to be treated and since i wouldnt be offended if people did something similiar with my culture, heck i'd be laughing it up weith them, i AM treating others as i'd like to be treated.
  13. Sorry, CF. This contest has a built-in anti-pitching bias, allowing more than 6 points to a player would allow starting pitchers to fairly compete with position players, we wouldn't want that to happen.
  14. It is incredible how easily you guys get bent out of shape over what you perceive as potentially offensive. A few guys wearing sombreros are now "ignorant and stupid" and "offensive to all of humanity"? get off your high horse there willets.
  15. ]If the Dominicans said they were offended, they'd be told to get a life, and that it's all in fun. I can't speak for anyone else, but I'd take the "it's offensive" argument seriously coming from a Dominican, I would not take it seriuosly coming from anyone else. ] The way to behave in society isn't to do potentially offensive things until you're told to stop. People are proud of their heritages, and to be told that being Dominican is the same as being Mexican is offensive. Whether it caused outrage or head shaking is another matter. But to pretend it's NOT offensive at all just doesn't ring true. according to you, who, i'm sure, are not Dominican. Get me a Dominican on here who says he's offended by "Pedro's Compadres" (you don't have to actually invite one, just find me a link or something.)
  16. metsmarathon wrote: i'm not middle aged, and i'm half spanish. not that that makes me dominican or even remotely latino (or remotely not caucasian for that matter) ... i'm just sayin' is all. i think 99% of this board could accurately be defined as "white," i know of only three women who post, and i'm reasonably sure there are less than 5 people under 30, since i've never met any of you can tell me if i'm wrong. my point was simply that i'm not going to label this offensive when i don't know how the people who are allegedly being offended feel about it.
  17. How abou this: It's not offensive until Dominicans tell me it's offensive. Here you are a bunch of middle age white guys telling everyone what is offensive to Dominicans, lets let them make that call.
  18. metirish wrote: Wht would anyone drinking too much be offensive to Irish people? the people who drink too muchat ball games quickly become offensive to everyone
  19. Yancy Street Gang wrote: Oooh, he played the "get a life" card! at which point you have to play the "you post here too" card.
  20. Willie doesn't have a PHD, its gotta be the team doctor telling Willie when a player is ready.
  21. Trachsel 2.5 Sanchez .75 Feliciano .5 Wright .25 Matsui 1 Nady 1 Franco 2 Delgado 1.5 Chavez .5 can't give traschel more than that for this, it would have been ugly if others didnt clean up his mess. sanchez and feliciano gotta get something for those big outs. wright/matsui gets .25 for the dp (which matsui loses for not advancing nady) matsui gets one for the homer nady gets one for the double that started the rally franco homers for two delgado would have had two but i had no points left and needed something for chavez, i love bunt singles.
  22. remember, vote for Matsui NOT Kaz. BOX SCORE
  23. nice game for the mets.... i hope beltran is o.k.
  24. Gwreck wrote: ="Nymr83"]it would also be a good way to get Wagner a save tonight ?? Julio warming up, FWIW. my point was (rather obviously i thought) that if you bring in Julio you'll end up needing Wagner.
  25. Centerfield wrote: Who pitches the 9th. Going to Julio would be a good way to find out exactly how big this park is. it would also be a good way to get Wagner a save tonight
