  1. inside the park homer for Matsui, he has now homered in his first at bat of every season with the Mets...the disappointment starts here... edit- Traschel hits one off Peavy's foot, now thats a good idea!
  2. Peavy K's Nady with Wright on 3rd. inning over.
  3. McCarthy on the radio is tearing into the Padres for giving in to the stoopid hitters and moving the fence in 10 feet in right-center. Apparently McCarthy likes pitching. Wright with a double.
  4. the king of double plays hits into another one.
  5. Traschel K's Barfield for the 1st out with the infield back, he will NOT concede the run (and neither would i against Peavy.) ..but giles singles home a run and now its Piazza (#33??)
  6. leadoff triple by Roberts, close play at 3B, pretty questionable to go there with nobody out on Roberts' part.
  7. ...but LoDuca and Beltran go quietly, thus dashing my hopes of raising Peavy's pitch count quickly.
  8. Reyes leads off with an 11 pitch AB, flyout to left nice job by jose!
  9. I say 6 in 3 games (Piazza will sit 1 of the games.) 3 for reyes, 1 for beltran tight hamstring and all, 1 for wright, 1 for nady.
  10. I wasn't a Cairo fan, i just wanted Kaz out, i spent July, Augustr, and September screaming for a prospect to get a chance to no avail. Hernandez isn't a failure yet. Keppinger will give us the .735, who the heck cares if he does it with a little more obp and a little less slg?
  11. I'll go with 2-2 after 8 mets get the 3rd and final run in the top of the 9th when the padres foolishly pull a cruising jake peavy for a pinch hitter.
  12. from mets.com: ]NYM: RHP Steve Trachsel (1-1, 4.09 ERA) Trachsel will be pitching on regular rest against the Padres after facing the Brewers Saturday on seven days' rest. He's 6-8 lifetime against the Padres and has never pitched at PETCO Park. SD: RHP Jake Peavy (1-2, 5.50 ERA) Peavy seems to enjoy facing the Mets. He's 3-1 in his career against New York, posting a 3.55 ERA in six games. Steve Traschel should be barred by rule from pitching a game that starts at 10:00PM, who is actualy staying up to watch the whole thing besides me?
  13. ]He'd probably be adequate defensively at second, and if he gave us his career line of .262/.325/.438/.763, I'd be pretty darn happy. Keppinger can put those numbers up with equal or better defense than Ty Wigginton if thats all you are looking for. Matsui might even be able to do it.
  14. what the hell kind of league is shallow enough that dropping griffey is even a choice?
  15. metirish wrote: Presto Wilson SO five times yesterday in a nine inning game.....OUCH... and he struck out 4 more times yesterday, 4/19. wow. Billy Traber (former met prospect) starts for the Nationals against the Phillies tonight.
  16. no wonder i don't read the MOFO. Zambrano is to blame for several things but this sure ain't one of them.
  17. giving pedro ANY points for this outing while not giving glavine AT LEAST 5 for 8 innings and 1 earned run is the epitome of the pedro ass-kissing that i am alleging takes place. edit- spelling

  19. we've had some huge letdowns lately. game 1 of the 2000 WS was in our pockets, theres Kenny Rogers, theres Benitez's blown saves against the braves on back-to-back weekends in 2001 that effectively ended a crazy august-september run.
  20. ]OE: I didn't see the game but notice that Castro must have had a good day not obvious in a quick boxscore glance with him getting some votes so I gave him one. he pegged out a runner trying to steal 2nd and would have scored a run had not Diaz made a throw to the plate that was pretty much perfect... on a day like today thats worth something.
  21. Glavine 6 Reyes .5 Woodward .5 Castro .5 Heilman .5
  22. abogdan wrote: If Floyd's back, go with Nady in center and Diaz in right. Bingo. ="Elster88"]"Hey, don't worry, a lineup like the Mets can carry a second baseman with no bat like Andy." well, it was true with everyone healthy. with Beltran out and Floyd hurting its probably worth giving Keppinger the call or at least going with Woodward for a few days.
  23. ]We seem to be learning that a standard one-inning save is worth a little bit less than one full point. Wagner ended up getting a 0.87 for his Friday night save in the 4-3 win over the Brewers. His chance of being Player of the Year: slim. i'l usually give a full point at least for a 1-run save, saving a 3-run lead doesnt get the same respect.
  24. Edgy DC wrote: Oh, and Gwreck, it's this guy --- biggest career collar in Met history. has there ever been a worse hitter with 4760 career at-bats?
  25. Feliciano 3 Julio .5 Woodward 1 LoDuca .5 Wright .5 Nady .5 just getting on base gets you points today
