  1. Hitters: Wright, Beltran, Reyes, Delgado, Alou, Green, Easley, Gotay, Milledge, Castro, Castillo, LoDuca, Anderson, Chavez, Valentin, Gomez, Ledee, Difelice, Franco, Newhan, Conine, Ambres, Hernandez, Johnson, Alomar. wright was easily first. i had to put beltran second with an OPS+ 24 pts higher than jose's. i put delgado next because he had over 200 more ABs than Alou and they were not bad at bats. alou edged out green for the next spot based on the stronger OPS+ and only a 100 AB difference. easley and gotay followed with milledge, all of whom MUST rank higher than castillo who put up worse numbers in roughly the same number of ABs. castro followed and then castillo. finally i got to loduca, sorry but with an 81 OPS+ you are HURTING at the plate big time, if not for the at-bats i'd have probably buried him entirely. Anderson was great in ver limited ABs everyone else is sorted roughly by a combination of ABs and OPS
  2. ]Mets looking into...[name] with the thought about moving him over to [position he doesn't play.] i don't like this.
  3. fire joe morgan is a GREAT site and heres another gem comment: ]Unbelievable. The guy [Arod] comes out for early BP and he gets attacked for working too hard. There is absolutely nothing this man can do that will not lead to a dummy writing negative things about him
  4. ]In the eighth, he said, Barring another run by Cleveland, it sets up Joe Borowski in the ninth. Dont try parsing that one; your hair will fall out. he means it sets him up for the save, and cleveland shouldn't score any more runs because that would take away the save opportunity, which is of course the goal of every game.
  5. A) he wouldn't do it and i wouldn't want him.
  6. then make the rule "you can replace for injury (or even for any reason) a player who has not yet appeared in the series" that would still be better than the rule that existed before
  7. vtmet wrote: This rule should not apply to starting pitchers AFTER the starting pitcher pitches...I can possibly understand a position player or a reliever...but once a starter has pitched, he isn't going to be pitching again in that series anyhow...might be a little different, if the injury occured PRIOR to the start KEEPING the said starter from taking the mound...and besides, Clemens isn't hurt, he's just old and useless... thats a good point, i'd amend the rule to exclude "a player who was the starting pitcher in a previous game"
  8. i agree with marathon, the rule is good but i'd like it better if the guy was done for the entire postseason... how does this rule work in the WS though? it seems like unlimited replacements with no downside
  9. i just read that he officialyl said "no" to the option and will receive the 3 million buyout.

    Knocked Up

saw it when it was in theaters, really funny.
  11. Mets innings by position: SS- reyes 1431, everyone else 21. 3B- wright 1418, everyone else 34. none of our other players stayed healthy enough to play that much even if willie had wanted them to. they each played 160 games. does anyone think they needed more days or late innings off (especially reyes)? its pretty hard to evaluate when i cant look back at past teams and know who was rested and who missed time do to nagging non-DL injuries.
  12. but the orioles lost with their prospects insteda of with Gerald Williams, Mike Difelice, etc so its all ok.
  13. Mex17 wrote: If he sits out a year, he would certainly seen to be candidate #1 to replace Omar if things go south again in 2008 (I'm basis this on the fact that The Post has reported that he would be on the hot seat along with Randolph if the same thing or worse happens next year). imo Omar will be given more than just next year even if next year sucks
  14. maybe they all treat their AAA teams this way because they know they can? the only reason Brooklyn and SI get treated so good is because the MLB teams owner's sons own them.
  15. definitely rockies, but i think its a great thing that theres suddenly a hatred for the phucking phillies, rivalries are awesome
  16. they might have all had bad spots, but the final numbers pretty clearly show that glavine is 3rd at best (and as i've said in past years i prefer part-time goodness to full-time below-averageness so el duque is ahead of him when i rank too)
  17. i was going to give him the benefit of the doubt at 140...but yeah theres really no comparison between these players and gonzalez really couldn't keep himself on the field
  18. not watching cause i'm busy but go rockies!
  19. ]was the best or 2nd best starter on the staff each year beyond that first one In which alternate universe was Tom Glavine better than either Maine or Perez this year? Duque's 147 innings if 3.72 are probably more valuable than Glavine's 200 of 4.45 as well.
  20. we've been through all this before, sports journalists seem to have a much lower barrier of truthfulness, source-checking, and of what constitutes a reliable source than anyone else
  21. you can split but not merge? that sucks
  22. Pujols 7 years have produce OPS+ numbers ranging from a LOW of 155 to a high of 189. Gonzalez's highest is only 169 and his 7th highest is only 131, and thats with the benefit of knocking out his bad years. Pujols is leaps and bound ahead ofGonzalez and could potentially finish in the same sentence as Ruth, Williams, and Bonds... so yeah 3 more years and i'd put him in the hall...he's the Koufax of hitters...that argument doesnt work for Gonzalez.
  23. you're the mod, go ahead and stick all the posts in this thread into the thread called "Tom Glavine"
  24. Division Series: Rockies v. Phillies: Phillies in 4 Cubs v. Diamondbacks: Diamondbacks in 5 Yankeess v. Indians: Indians in 5 Angels v. Red Sox: Red Sox in 4 Championship Series: Indians in 6 Diamondbacks in 7 World Series: Indians in 5
