Lofton doesn't do shit for this team, they need a power-hitter on the bench. Given that Chavez is on the team that guy need not be a good fielder.

why isn't Sosa a hall of famer? and if your answer is "steroids," why ARE Bonds and Clemens and who knows how many other from this era who were suspected but never caught like Sosa going to get in?
  3. nymr83
]Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, Mike Piazza throw in Clemens and you've got a great hall of fame class in 5 years.

Bedard was way better than Perez last year (and career), if Bedard got 7, Perez deserves 5 at most (or maybe Perez deserves 7 and Bedard was foolish to avoid arbitration.) but either way Bedard should have been the Mets' argument "don't pay this guy like a far better pitcher"

]That's mostly because you can't hear the blather on NYC sports radio ]I can. I choose not to. "Always a good decision"

i think his having a decent season and coming cheap are mutually exclusive. either he sucks and we don't want him back or he plays well in his contract year and prices himself out of what the Metsshould pay (paying for an aging 1stbaseman is not generally a wise investment)
  7. nymr83
In that case he can stay! not that he couldn't anyway

Dunn's OPS+ the last 3 years 141, 114, 136. he's 27. Teixeira's are 144, 126, 150, he's also 27. It looks like you'd rather have Teixeira especially with defense counted in, but theres nothing wrong with Adam Dunn, he'd certainly be an upgrade over the spriraling Delgado (161, 131, 103 and 35 years old)

they should bring it up just as an example of his inability to tell the truth.

]Maybe green and piazza should've played some winter league ball. piazza's knees probably don't need that. i'm shocked hehasnt caught on somewhere yet.

I'd love to see the guy with the photos called before Congress so Clemens can call an 11 year old kid who was just happy to take pictures of ball players a liar.

I wouldn't mind being the ones going after Nick Johnson and his amazing OBP during this season.

yeah we went from 17 to 13 to 9, though we're not done this year. its hard for me to tell with hidden and changing email addresses who from last year did not sign up, does anyone know?

open season, invite your friends! please invite them to this board too so they can discuss the league (and hopefully baseball in general)

    1. Can we get about 145+ starts from our six main starters? (Santana, Martinez, Maine, Perez, el duque, and Pelfrey) 2. Can we get enough production out of Church, Castillo, and Schneider to not bog us down too much? 3. Can the bullpen look more like '06 than '07? 4. Can Alou and/or Delgado have a good year? (or a decent year out of both of them) 5. Can we get the necessary hitting off the bench, especially considering that Schneider needs to be hit for in alot of late situations (and will willie realize this and do it?)
  19. nymr83
when was the last time they appeared in GRAY though? thats easily my favorite jersey
  20. nymr83
Don't be alarmed if Santana sucks in spring training, thats just the SI cover curse doing its thing.

i don't know what the range is on WFAN (660) but it gets static as you drive up the NYS thruway and is unlistenable, though you can tell theres something there, (not sure if that makes sense) in Albany.

]I think WABC (770) and WCBS (880) would qualify. I'm not sure of any others. I doubt that WCBS would want to commit to broadcasting 162 games. And does WABC still do Yankee games? I thought I heard something about them moving but I don't remember for sure. WCBS (880) does Yankee games. WABC (770) is conservative talk radio, so you'd have Sean Hannity, baseball, and then Laura Ingram.

anyone from last year or other board members who havent signed up yet please do so NOW, we'll open this up to friends/family/whatever on thursday. please limit yourself to 2 invites per person...i don't want the league immediately filled with the friends of one person, not even mine.
