    When I saw Diaz coming in for the 8th it felt like a panic driven move from the lack of faith in our bullpen - unlike against Atlanta where it felt worth it. That he did NOT return for the 9th restored my faith in Buck - he was using Diaz to get the heart of the order, to hell with what inning it was

    It sounds like you are saying you want degrom back next year even if the Mets medical staff tells the front office its a bad idea? I dont think I'm on board with that. I mean sure I would want to offer him a one year deal and take my chances anyway, but if the medicals say his arm is shot you keed to let someone else hand out the long term stinker deal

    This is a big injury for the Mets because of the way the roster is currently constructed with a short bench and at least one DH-only bat. Might they have to consider beimg down a reliever at least until usage forces them to change back?

    Smoltz isn't really comparable - he came back for 4 years as a reliever and then became a starter again. I don't know what that means for deGrom handling a starter's workload all year next year.
