  1. deGrom batting 8th with Eric Young 9th. I'd rather bat Neiwenhuis/den Dekker 8th and Young DFA

So what if he's the only lefty starter? it might matter with hitters because you can platoon guys, alternate the order to protect against "specialists" who only pitcher well against lefties or righties etc. but it doesnt really matter for pitching UNLESS you were to take the extreme steps of frequently shuffling the rotation to move around Lefties and Righties to face opposing teams that are markedly better against lefties or righties. Since you're actually NOT going to do that and will just keep throwing everyone out there every fifth day, keeping a starter on the roster because of his handedness is meaningless.
  3. Don't drink the Yankee KoolAid! those pitchers are going to fall apart and revert to their usual suckitude!
  4. Edgy MD wrote: It's perhaps a headscratcher, as he gave 32 solid starts, but Jae Neo. wow, i had to go look that up now... Seo got no votes in 2003 for for 32 starts, 188 1/3 innings of a 110 ERA+, but Jerome Robertson (who?) got a vote and finished 7th despite pitching 160 2/3 innings to the tune of an 86 ERA+ (5.10 ERA and a 1.519 WHIP) racism!

I've found the cosmology of the Thor films weighty and stupid I thought I was the only one. I mean, I love-- LOVE-- me some old-school Thor, but I found myself as intensely annoyed as I have been in some time about midway through The Dark World, mostly at the fact that my Marvel Universe completism would force me to sit through the second half. but you managed to get through Elektra?
  6. has anyone seen the thread for X-Men Days of Future Past? best marvel movie ever and i cant find the thread. please bump it if you can and feel free to delete this post. Guardians might be the first ever marvel movie that i wait for blueray on.
  7. Frayed Knot wrote: I definitely didn't see Carlos Gomez turning into what he's become. 6. Carlos Gomez. "Are people really upset that we traded the second coming of Roger Cedeno? Come on. The guy will never hit enough to be an everyday player." I think I referred to him as a "Jason Tyner clone"!
  8. Nooooooooooooooooooooo
  9. Ceetar wrote: And like Edgy said, they shoot down Mets, in part because the Mets being losers is the narrative right now. But just wait, if the Mets go to the World Series next year with Harvey being a brash out-going Seaveresque asshole, you might as well deify him. I'll sign up for that storyline please!
  10. There is an article on espn.com speculating about where different guys could get traded one of which is Colon. One of the destinations is the Bronx and the nauseating reasoning is that they owe it to Jeter to try! edit- the puke-inducing line: Colon is a good short-term fix for the Yankees, and a bandage they should test out, if only for the sake of Jeter.
  11. Good luck to her. But I don't see this as worth any money out of me.
  12. i didnt watch tonight solely to avoid another stop on the Jeter retirement tour.
  13. The neighborhood play is absurd and is the entire problem here, not the replay.

I'm shocked that this list finds Milwaukee with Segura and Atlanta/Simmons on it even though I figured going in that there'd be a number of clubs getting worse production than the Mets are getting out of Tejada as there just aren't a lot of hitting SSs in MLB right now. Simmons is the second coming of Ozzie Smith with Shawon Dunston's arm thrown in, I wouldnt worry about his OPS too much.
  15. bmfc1 wrote: So we get to see Tejada, who (I feel) has little talent and no future as an everyday major leaguer, play every single frigging game, hitting .230 at best, instead of someone that played SS better than anyone expected who might have a major league bat. I guess that the plethora of OFers is rectified with an Abreau deadline deal (if Sandy can be bothered). Consider this: if Tejada was DFA'd, would any team want him? If so, would it be as a starter? Bench guy? AAA insurance? The Cardinals released Pete Kozma and I don't know if he's any worse than Tejada. I'm guessing 20+ teams would put a claim in, he'd be the backup MI for most teams (do they still carry those with all the damn bullpens?), not his fault that the Mets have no depth and he is starting.
  16. Kaboomboomboomboom... almost went tonight. Almost.
  17. Wheeler!!!! Does he come out for the 9th?
  18. I put the Yankees in a tougher division than you did, so I win.
  19. Plus to do so simply for easy division reasons is a bad idea and a system of 8x4 would essentially kill pennant races I would hope they would instead destroy both Central Divisions and go 4x8 instead WAS SF TOR OAK ATL LAD NYY LAA MIA COL BAL SEA PHI SD BOS TEX NYM ARZ TB HOU CHC CIN DET CLE STL MIL CHW MIN MONTREAL PIT KC MEXICO CITY
  20. Did they hold this game for the USA game? I thought t was 810 start
  21. Vic black is a disaster right now..
  22. Missed a big chance there, hope it doesn't come back k to bite us but pretty sure it will.
  23. 2-0 Mets and no outs, but Matsuzaka looks like he is done with illness or injury, we need more runs here!!!
  24. Solution: don't read the Times sports section. Go to The Post's or News' website and print out the Mets stuff. They write about us every day.
