Curious that the electorate is somewhat hotter to forgive Bonds than Clemens, and hotter to forgive Clemens than Sosa. Sosa seems to get a tiny bit more slack than McGwire, and Jose Canseco can go to Hell. If you clear the slate of steroids, they're all very strong candidates, but I guess this sort of nuance is a good thing. if anyone votes but DOES NOT vote for Piazza please let us know so that 1) we can calculate a correct percentage of the vote for each player knowing the total number of ballots and 2) we can show up at your house in the middle of the night...
  2. merge this into the one with the poll?
  3. The self-righteous writers have clogged up the ballot not elected guys who should have gone in years ago. my ten: Jeff Bagwell Craig Biggio Barry Bonds Randy Johnson Pedro Martinez Mike Piazza Tim Raines Curt Schilling John Smoltz Alan Trammell others i also would put in: Roger Clemens - sorry, i still hate you and i'm not voting for you if there is a limit of 10 and i like other guys Sammy Sosa Mark McGwire maybe: Edgar Martinez Jeff Kent but i cant even discuss these guys given the clog at the top of the ballot
  4. Dislike. Hurt last year, coors field,35,2yearsnot1,draft pick. Too much downside here for me.

I'm having trouble with this... a small market team should install cavernous dimensions? Why? The only argument i can think of is that defense, particularly outfield defense, is cheaper to acquire than offense and plays best in these types of parks. the same is true of offense that is based on speed rather than power. but its a weak argument.

  7. Attention Giants fans: your team sucks, you should watch deGrom instead.
  8. Edgy MD wrote: I love that spellcheck has corrected "subpar" in your post to "subparagraph." Derek Jeter is totally subparagraph. Haha

Well yeah, we certainly have evidence across town that a subparagraph defender can stick around at SS for a l o n tv time if he hits enough.
  10. I meant "in the Mets' outfield right now" as in "on the team right now", Nimmo isn't here yet so he doesnt factor into the current playing time equation which is what was being discussed.
  11. I don't think Neiwenhuis is a starter or anything more than the 5th outfielder on the next pennant winning Mets team, they need to do better. I'm slightly less sure of that with denDekker, but with enough playing time he'll probably show himself to be more of the same. nothing to get excited about in the Mets' outfield rgiht now

  13. Anything that cuts out the UN makes me happy, but i seriously would have even known about this if not for dumb media and dont actually care

He could have ONE game like today's (one where he didn't even lose the lead) on the her;s of a dozen straight clean ones and peeps would be calling for his head. as of now, nobody really has any reason to remember anything Mejia has done wrong because the Mets suck. Benitez on the other hand managed to blow games in big situations, despite pitching well most of the time. this is just bad luck, but it leaves a bad impression
  16. Yeah, I'd tell them it is outrageous that they plan to charge me without my consenting. It might even be illegal, and you might even be entitled to keep whatever they send without paying for it. The only caveat I'd give to the below is that I have no idea what it says in any agreement you singed when you signed up for hte paper delivery https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/investigations/mailfraud/fraudschemes/othertypes/unsolicitedfraud.aspx Receipt of Unsolicited Merchandise A company sends you a gift in the mail--a ball point pen, a key chain, a tie. But you didn't order it. What do you do? If you are the type of person this company is looking for, you may feel guilty about accepting the item without paying for it. Don't feel guilty! It's yours, and you are under no obligation to pay anything. You, the consumer, may only legally be sent two types of merchandise through the mail without your consent or agreement: Free samples which are clearly and conspicuously marked as such. Merchandise mailed by a charitable organization that is soliciting contributions. And in these two cases, you can consider the merchandise a gift if you wish. In all other situations, it is illegal to send merchandise to someone, unless that person has previously ordered or requested it. These rules are codified in Title 39, United States Code, Section 3009. That section of the Postal Reorganization Act of 1970 incorporates these protections for American consumers and makes the mailing of unordered merchandise unfair methods of competition and unfair trade practices under the law. If you do not wish to pay for unsolicited merchandise or make a donation to a charity sending such an item, you may do one of three things (in each case, by law, you have no obligation to the sender): If you have not opened the package, you may mark it "Return to Sender," and the Postal Service will return it with no additional postage charged to you. If you open the package and don't like what you find, you may throw it away. If you open the package and like what you find, you may keep it for free. In this instance, "finders-keepers" applies unconditionally. Furthermore, it is illegal for a company that sends you unordered merchandise to follow the mailing with a bill or dunning communication. If you are aware of violations of the federal law prohibiting the mailing of unordered merchandise, or if you have personally had difficulty with such items--especially if you are sent statements demanding payment for the merchandise--you should contact you local postmaster or the nearest Postal Inspector.
  17. I would suspect that her job performance is a better predictor of Mets' ticket sales than the performances of most 'scapegoat' coaches who get fired performances are of the teams' on-field struggles, thats the business, pretty weird that fans would choose to whine about it now.
  18. They should probably cancel this promotion for the good of the team, who WONT throw that crap on the field? Give a voucher for a free hot dog or soda instead, everyone will be happier. Meanwhile, in the grand tradition of t-shirts from champions that never were, send the Granderson posters to be used as wall paper in 3rd world countries, where kids will grow up thinking he was a great player... just as their older siblings now know the Mets won it all in 2000.
  19. this is real child abuse imo

Later but if nobody claimed him who wants him? unless there isa money-starved contender hoping to get the Mets to pick up part of the contract in exchange for a prospect whose owners said they cant claim him for risk of getting stuck with the whole thing.

  22. The Rox scouted Noah Syndergaard, specifically, but were also poking around about Rafael Montero, Jacob deGrom, Matt den Dekker, Ruben Tejada and Matt Reynolds, according to people who caught wind of the poking. Tejada for Tulo! done!

It will be terrible. This is the most terrible thing ever. Jeter striking out to end a must-win game on the last day of the season to end the Yankees' playoff hopes is a much prettier image.
