  1. I'm becoming concerned that the Pelfrey we're going to see the rest of the way may be a lot less than the one we've seen so far. Hopefully he'll turn it back around quickly once the break ends.
  2. Six honorary Schaefer points to whoever comes up with the best George-Steinbrenner-themed "Candle in the Wind" parody!
  3. A couple of years ago I noticed the San Diego crew as being especially bad. Don't remember who they were, and I don't know if they still have the same team, but they were awful. I'm also thumbs-down on the Florida and Washington guys. I seem to recall the Cincinnati guys not being too bad.
  4. I think we all picked up on that.
  5. I'm sure they have value. Less than Thole, I'm sure, but value.
  6. Well, playing to win certainly hasn't worked out.
  7. This three-catcher thing isn't going to last, and I don't think Thole ought to be the one to leave.
  8. Steinbrenner dies from heart attack MLB.com 07/13/10 9:50 AM ET Yankees principal owner and chairperson George Steinbrenner died Tuesday morning, reportedly after suffering a massive heart attack. The Yankees confirmed Steinbrenner's death in a release issued Tuesday. Steinbrenner was rushed to St. Joseph's hospital in Tampa, Fla., on Monday night, according to reports in New York and Tampa. Steinbrenner turned 80 on July 4.

  10. His hairdo (such as it is) makes his head look very oddly shaped. Perhaps that's what he's going for. Is this the kind of stuff we should put on his Wiki page?

  12. I'm afraid that Amanda's more interesting than Anthony.
  13. Ceetar wrote: Is there anyone else in baseball that this wouldn't be considered egotistical? It certainly should get that consideration here, as well.
  14. Apparently it goes all the way back to 1985. I thought it was much more recent. I don't believe I've ever watched a Home Run Derby, and back in 1985 I was still watching everything baseball.
  15. Edgy DC wrote: I have to say that Gary and Howie, arriving a few years ago for the Mets annual visit to Yankee Stadium II, couldn't say enough how disgusted they were that bob Sheppard's substitute was basically doing a Sheppard imitation. They compared it to the notion of one of them coming on the air and trying to talk like Bob Murphy. It would be fun, though, if they did a "talk like Bob Murphy" telecast. Maybe just for a half inning.

  20. Let's hope that this is the last game of 2010 where Carlos Beltran is unavailable.
  21. What is this, three consecutive four-inning starts from Pelfrey? What's going on here?
